7star,
may i ask why you feel there are no “real gung fu people” out here?
are you only asking from a “ring fighter” point of view?
I don’t consider myself “real” gung fu fighter, first and foremost i am a martial art survivalist. which in my book means i teach my students how to protect themselves in “real life” situations. I train my students with the whole mindset of whats out there on the streets. see, everyday where i live having the ability to fight well is a must or you can get eaten alive. Out here, violent confrontations are a dime a dozen, so unfortunately unlike professional fighters who don’t work and train 6-8 hours a day, we have a very different reality.
if anyone trains 6-8 hours a day you can be remarkable. but once again we have a different reality.
but you can’t say Kung Fu is completely ineffective because as i’ve stated many times here, my student used his choy lee fut against 6 guys with knives and screwdrivers. and he is still with me because what i taught him worked for him. so kung fu is real good for real life combat, maybe not ring fighting, but out on the streets it works, and thats fine for me.
i just want to know why do you hate so much on kung fu?
just conversing, so don’t attack.
hsk
No attacks from me. I didn’t say there were no real kung fu people - I think you may have missed part of the thread - or maybe it was discussed in the other mma/cma thread. I was addressing what kung fu guys state all the time - that the kung fu guys who competed in past mma events were not REAL cma. So this naturally sparks a queston - “where are the REAL guys?”
pros dont train 6-8 hours a day.
I live in an area that is just as bad. Not only that, but I have a night job as a bouncer. not only do I have fights several nights per week, I get death threats and run the risk of seeing hostile people that I ejected every day when I am at the grocery store, walking the street, etc. Consequently, the possibility of me getting atacked is much higher than the average person.
nobody on this thread has said that kung fu is completely ineffective.
I don’t have on cma at all - I used to train it. I hate on some of these people who make statements such as “those weren’t real kung fu guys” or “kung fu has something special that no other art has”. Kung fu is fighting, just like anything else. it’s no more special than muay thai or sumo…
