This is certainly what TCMA needs, but I hope these guys have done fight training…I didn’t see anything about the fight records of the Chinese guys, just push hands and such…I don’t see how you can expect someone with no fights to go against someone with a hundred pro bouts?
Will be a gamechanger in the world of MMA if the Chen Taiji boxers hold their own! ![]()
The problem is if China can find their best Sanda fighters and beat the sh!t out of those MT fighters, it still doesn’t prove anything about the effectiveness of Chen Taiji. It can only prove that Sanda training is effective.

Exciting! I hope that the results get posted here.
Chen Taji teacher just opened shop in my town last month. If Chinese win 3 of the 5 fights, maybe I will go check him out… ![]()
Oh, snap!! Get the popcorn ready!

Muay Thai fighters need to prove nothing in the ring as sport fighters representing their style. This is not about TCMA legacy. This is about Chen Village legacy. Not about Chen style practiced by outsiders but Chen descendants of the Great Masters adapting their style to the ring. This is a win/win for the Thai fighters , it may also be a win for the Chen fighters if they excel. Hope Gene covers this one in the next issue. ![]()

you think they will cheat right? and get some sanda guys to learn a little form and dressing in white silk, pose as chen guys? that’s what i’m think too. or they will have fixed matches, they do it all the time. my boy yao,mma fighter with a shuai jiao background fought in a well know martial art show. they taught him a little form and made him say he was from a traditional background, after two real fights he had to throw the last one cause his opponents was a student of the host of the show.
They are not sanda guys. They are Chen guys for sure and I know two of them but I don’t know if the matches are going to be fixed. I don’t think that they will be but we shall see.
The thing is… Taiji in its very nature is defensive. Literally lacking in offensive attacking skills. Where as MT obviously has this by the truck load.
Any Taiji is not suited to fight with a goal of winning vs a MT guy.
It should be for defense only.
In any case, my opinion is that the Taiji guys HAVE to grapple if they want to survive at all… if they try to stand toe to toe and trade strikes ( ie. allowing their opponent to swing away unmolested), then they are TOAST.
“O”
This should be an interesting exhibition of TMA skills in a compromising format. The distinctions which are broad will make this a great boxing event

This can be a good survey. Starting from me, I have not met any Taiji guy who was interesting in “fighting” yet.
Must not have tangled with any level 5’s. ![]()
