My opinion
First of all, BT gets my respect for fighting full contact and then putting up the video to stand on its own merit.
As far as technique, I’m not a hsing-i practitioner, so I can’t comment on the techs as related to that.
As far as general technique, I thought the rear hand was used with good effect (obviously, since it landed and knocked the opponent down). Unfortunately, it looked like the opponent was not very skilled (this could have been because he wasn’t or just because he was out-matched). It would be informative to see BT use the same thing against a boxer of the same size with the same experience.
KF, BT and some of his crew used to post on the internal forum. They may be able to fill in the blanks on that fight if they’re still there.
I am curious as to whether most kung fu people think that was a viable and effictient application, or whether they share the last poster’s opinion.
Looked good to me. I mean, it got the job done, right? I’d like to see his fight with the pro San Shou guy.

I’m sorry count, you’re clearly mistaken. Traditionalists do not spar, or compete. I thank you for not making this mistake in the future. Now please,share with us a clip of an eye gouge we can use to stop the clinch.

What are you talking about? That’s how I learned. True they don’t compete in large numbers, but there are records of Internal practitioners competing in the old days.
And as far as sparring goes you learn to fight by fighting, not dancing.
How do you learn to apply any technique in any given situation if all you’ve ever done is dance and push hands?

Every teacher I ever had said that in real fighting Kung Fu doesn’t look good. What matters is what works.
Also, if ya didn’t notice, they were wearing Boxing Gloves and fighting with rules.
Now if it had been simply fighting without rules, the set up for and execution of that strike might have looked better.
Perfect clean executions of techniques are a rare thing, what matters is that you can apply them when needed.

I was joking about traditionalists not sparring. The dance comment was a joke, too. I do an internal style. I was just being sort of subtle. You’re preaching to the choir here, but you are correct.
There’s been some pretty awesome people here of a variety of styles.
Ive never understood the whole “preaching to the choir” crap.
Woudlnt it make more sense to say “singing to the choir”?

Preaching to the choir means your message is directed at the people who are already saved (the choir is made up of converts and believers), instead of the ones in the seats that still need to be saved.
