It’s OK, but they should have put head gear on, it would have made it more honest and the reactions more correct and the counter-actions more true.

Or, to translate: they should have put the head gear on, made it realistic, and seen that everything they do changes.
They were just screwing around..
so the above is not “real” WC?

Your question makes no sense.
YungChun was right, they were just playing around.
But from my perspective, it is just more fantasy bullsh1t.

I’m saying do you guys not think it was decent?
I am assuming you think the footage displayed in the video sucks then?
I don’t think the video should be labeled “Advanced Wing Chun Sparring.”
I think it should be labeled “Light-Contact Wing Chun Chi Sau/Goh Sau.”
PS - I don’t think is ‘sucks,’ however. I somewhat enjoyed watching it.

The point is that they are just playing…as such there is no real attempt at applying the basics..
No basics = nothing to evaluate..

What is it supposed to represent? A couple of guys slap boxing in a narrow garage with mirrors? 52 blocks? Bob n weave chi sau?

Yes, it was terrible.
This clip’s been around for a lil while. I don’t believe they’re “playing around” in that they’re not trying to apply things, I believe they’re sparring lightly. All fighters spar at varying levels to include boxers, thai boxers, and even grapplers. No one says that boxers going lightly working on technique is horrible or not able to be evaluated,…so the same is true here imo. Anyone that says all they do is spar at 100% is a liar or an idiot.
These guys have at least made their interpretation of wing chun more free flowing, though many would argue it’s lost its structure and hence is more like JKD than WC. However I personally feel that the relaxed movement helps to apply wing chun in a more realistic sense. No one stays rigid and flat-footed in a fight, and if they do they will lose.
Not the “best” clip out there yet but not the worst..but that all depends on your definition of how wing chun should be applied…which obviously everyone here as a different say on that.
There are loads of disgraceful WCK videos on the Net. That clip is right up there with them IMO.

It is just some light sparring, using “Wing Chun-esque” techniques.
Technically speaking, they had bad WC (and kung fu) structures and roots, however, if they had picked up the intensity of what they were doing, then perhaps they would have gotten more out of it, even if this would not classify what they got out of it as Wing Chun.

LOL… what these guys were doing is better than 90% of the WC practitioners out there.
i thought thats was a decent light sparring clip
i like the MT type shielding block they were using as well

Sorry, I don’t see how touchy-feely, closed eyed, slap-happy, hand chasey, tickle me moves equates to “applying things” Chun… Or that continuity of the above equates to applying “relaxed free flow” in Chun..
It was simply half assed playing around.. To me calling it “sparring” stretches the meaning of the term sparring to mean any kind of hand play… Nothing wrong with playing but that kind of play has precious little to do with real training/sparring.
Calling it sparring legitimizes this kind of stuff–giving it a thumbs up.. One could then assume this represents actual “work” showing “good training habits” or actual sparring and if this is what folks are doing in the way of sparring/training then they are training to fail (to coin a phrase).

So then what you really have a problem with, is the fact that the guys aren’t “as good as you”? Because MOST chunners are touchy feely, closed eyed, slap happy, hand chasey, using tickle me moves. So I fail to see how this is any worse then what’s already out there.
I’ve yet to see ONE video of good wing chun…based on your standards. Yet everyone in here is an expert who knows the real deal yet can’t produce ONE.
