So last night my gf and I are driving back from the theater when some tool behind us starts honking. We were on a one lane road and I guess we weren’t going fast enough for these guys. My gf was driving and her windshield was all fogged up so she was going slow until it defrosted. Anyway, eventually we come to a two lane road and the tools pull up in front of us and then drive in between both lanes to keep us from passing. They start slamming on their brakes right in front of us, although I don’t know why. Anyway, the road ends and we get in the right lane to turn right and they get in the left lane to turn left. We make our right turn, and then a few seconds later the tools make a right turn our of their left lane to follow us. They’re swerving all around next to us and like shouting **** at us and stuff.
Now, nothing would have made be happier than to roll down the window and throw bricks at them (assuming I had bricks in the car), but I can’t do that because a) I’m 22 and I don’t want a record, b) they were probably high schoolers and it looks really bad when 22 year olds beat up high schoolers, and c) fucking nutjobs like that often have guns.
So eventually they went off to go jerk each other off or whatever they were going to do. But wtf?
What is the correct, non-violent thing to do in that situation? I have one friend who if he were with us, I guarantee you he would have gotten out of the car at the light, gotten golf clubs out of the trunk and destroyed their car and sent them both to the hospital.
So anyway, my gf drops me off and then goes to make her like 45 minute drive home. She called me on the way home and said all these guys were harassing her at a light. And then they followed her on to the highway. I know she didn’t do anything to provoke it, I mean, maybe she looked at them or something, but wtf, is that illegal? She said they were like yelling stuff at her and cutting her off and stuff. Why do people do **** like that? She eventually took her exit off the highway and onto the interstates, but they didn’t follow her cuz highschoolers are afraid of interstates.
But seriously tho. What do you do here that doesn’t involve violence? I mean I guess you could call 911 if you had a cell phone and it got really bad, but wtf?
I know guys go around at night trying to start fights with other guys for no reason, but wtf is up with doing that to girls? I just don’t want her to get raped or something.
What’s missing from this picture? How about you taking their license plate number? Dude, when someone in a car Focks with you, DO NOT STOP. DO TAKE THEIR PLATE NUMBER! Usually, when someone is being an ******* to me while they’re in a car, I let them see that I’m taking their plate number, that often makes them run for the hills. After taking their plate number, report them to the cops. Simple. Yeah, you COULD let your temper & ego get the better of you, pull over, and try fighting them…thereby becoming another statistic. Does the name Alex Gong mean anything to you? Plate # then telephone. Think of it as a type of “empty force”, defeating them by making a few small motions with your fingers, no contact neccessary.
those that are just messing around will be frightened by the act. those that are seriously up to doing bad will proceed. Carjackings where people are pulled out of a car, shot, left for dead, and then the bad guys driving off in their car happen. This very thing happened at a traffic light in Houston - Tracy Gee is dead because of just such a person.
Call 911 and keep driving to the nearest police station, fire station, or most populated area you can find…even a donut shop with a cop parked there…
Flipping them off, getting out of the car, etc… Don’t know where you are but where I am people can carry legal and illegal guns. Don’t care how good your Kung fu is…can’t beat a bullet. Definitely don’t carry a knife to a gun fight…
And a situation where you pull a gun…well prison is never nice this time of year.
Take the discrete way out and let the police do what they are paid for.

And by the time they pull it you will be charging at them with a knife plus moving targets are very hard to hit and you will have an allibi why you killed the sob (self defense because he pulled it first or whatever).

Truth of the matter is, and I’m sure most of you know to never bring a knife to a gun fight.
IF- Alex Gong was the Kungfu prac who was gunned down while trying to halt a car theft. He heroically chased the perp and was shot dead. It was a pity, he was apparently a good propogator of martial arts. there is a lesson for us all in our approach to dangerous situations by this example alone.
For one, never let your GF drive if she isnt in possession of The Skills. I always drive my wife everywhere simply because if it hits the fan I know she will choke. Plus I drive faster than prolly anyone alive so I am always the maniac on the road… =D Remember, its always better to come up on people than for them to come up on you. That way you are in the most control.
Second, if you cant see well enuff to follow the flow of traffic… dont drive yet. Plain and simple. The important thing is to make sure you see those *******s on their cellphones or putting on their makeup so they dont nail you. see below
Third, if they are truly wackos you prolly did the best thing. Nowadays its roulette to act tough unless you have the proverbial ace up your sleeve.
**Side Note: I always approach traffic like I am fighting. I like to watch driving mannerisms and predict what people will do and who are the wolves and sheep of the road. Always be aware of the presence of other cars and their rate of speed so you have a mental image of where your "outs" are. You win the game if you never have to use your breaks once when travelling from point A to point B (besides stopsigns and redlights of course). The interesting part is when you start adding speed. That really requires your intuition levels to be on the spot. After 11 years in Dallas's crappy traffic, I have never had a car accident and havent had a speeding ticket in 6 years.
This also translates into social interaction. I never really drank alot when I went out so I would "play" the same game in the bars or even when I was working the door. People still give off intimations of their mindset thru their demeanor, walk, talk, how their eyes move. Can you see who is dangerous in a room crowded with people? I always noticed that people who arent strangers to fighting and violence move in a different way than other people. Anyways, I always felt that this side of conflict... the psychological is the most interesting. I mean if you know where the danger may be coming from first then you are more prepared to deal with it/avoid it right?
While that statistic about knives IS true…the situation with people in a car like this…if there is a gun, it is ALREADY drawn and in a position to be a threat.
However, the statement is actually a saying that MEANS take the appropriate weapon and do not choose to be outclassed.
Alex Gong was a world kickboxing champion living in LA. He was training at his gym when he saw a someone back their car into his Jeep in the parking lot & take off. Alex ran outside & chased the vehicle to a traffic light. Instead of taking down the plate # & calling the cops, he confronted the driver & tried to make him get out of the vehicle. The driver pulled a gun and shot him in the chest then drove off. Alex is now deceased, the damage done to his Jeep no longer matters. By all accounts he was a great guy and an incredible martial artist, but he made a mistake in how he handled the situation. Don’t do the same.
First of all ALex Gong was a kockboxer not a kung fu guy. Second of all he provoked it and in a way deserved what he got (for stupidity), he acted worste (more stupid) thatn those guys in the clips posted.
