The Importance of Internal

Why are internal martial arts important?

Just imagine how much harder people would have to work to find ridiculous questions to ask online if the internal arts didn’t exist.

i think they are important because they seek to unify body and mind, linking mind and body results in better control of your body and use of its muscular system. internal martial artists know subtle leverage, and emphasise training the body as one muscle some also practice qi gong, ancient breathing excercises that are very beneficial to your body healthwise and ma wise this is a brief response, im sure there are ima guys/girls that can elaborate further.

if you didnt’ know how to use your muscles and bones you wouldn’t be able to walk, or type this post, or anything except lie there, a shapeless mass.

Ahhh yes, Red, but imagine how powerful every key stroke would be if it had proper internal structure and whole-body mechanics behind it.

Internal martial arts is important because it provides an elaborate, deeply complicated theoretical world view that contains all the rationals and excuses for why someone can’t fight even after 10 years of training

oh, and it’s a good way to meet spaced out chicks…

I’m a master at internal typing dewd. I practice my keyboard forms slowly, a thousand times day. I’ve gone through 3 keyboards today because I’m so powerful, and I don’t have to exert one ounce of actual muscular power cause I’m using my Qi!

Yeah, lkfmdc, could you imagine how lame someone would have to be to get bested by an internal stylist?

Ya, or not able to get laid by the cool, spaced out chicks either. :stuck_out_tongue:

Instead of training in “so-called” martial arts (internal or external) we should all pump weights till we no longer have a neck and then try to beat the crap out of each other until all our teeth are gone and our nose closely resembles a smushed Vienna sausage.

All other methods of training are “esoteric” bull**** that should be dismissed and replaced with the aformentioned methods.

Or so it would seem from this message board

hmm ive seen some internalist fight with taji moves. you have to make it work for you. most people dont know how to do that/ and yes even masters with ten years experience falter too when it comes to fighting.

Would you even call them a Master with ten years experience

Without internal, we would just be doing brute force stuff like boxing and wrestling.

Exactly, and the other thing to remember is that its not always just about fighting its also about health.

Internal arts are important. I am not positive about chinese martial arts but in my art, a lot of power is generated internally and externally, sort of a half and half. You cannot have full power just by using one or the other, and knowing your internal heart and energy are true and honest will allow your external power to achieve full strength.

For what it’s worth I’ve seen a video of a Tai Chi guy take on a muay thai boxer. Tai Chi mopped the floor with him.

I have seen the same thing with a Xing Yi guy, powerfull strikes that hit really really hard. :stuck_out_tongue:

couldn’t you become a master in SD in 10 years?

Maybe a year

a good example of internal full body structure use would be a volley ball serve. underhand.

I fukcin’ hate hippies.
