i know in the old days that as kids their shins would get chipped by a hammer and the bones would grow back stronger. do they STILL do this today?

either way, although they don’t look like it at first glance, thai kicks are vicious.

I like

  1. the bench

  2. ish ish or poosh poosh breathing, breath work or voicing

qi gong related or not?

  1. stepping in circle and hand moves

  1. holding on to the taped pole and knee strike

  1. leg sweeps compared with shaolin or wudang leg sweep

  1. some of the hand blocking moves are like those in WC and mantis

  2. bent elbow protecting temple and head and move in are like Ba Ji

8 upper cut defenses: frontal kick to distance yourself, body turn with eblow up, or move in

the moving in part is like Ba Ji tactics, too.

Hi SPJ,

Thai kicks are very agressive. I like the way Buakaw kicks. It is like he has serpents for legs.

I am at a disadvantage when it comes to the stuff coming out of Thailand. I have yet to see the real thing. We only see the sport.

Buakaw is the MAN…

Really no credit, really?

Buakaw has close to perfect technique and has ultimate control of his kicks, but he doesn’t kick the hardest.

However they are absolutely FAST and well, more than hard enough.

Just ask Masato or Andy Souwer, LOL.

9-8-0? You forget how to count? Or creating your own counting system?:stuck_out_tongue:

Great instructional vid, SPJ, from a fighter who is imparting the science of MT !

The law of specificity is awesome.
You do something and you do it over and over and you do it in a realistic way, you will find the best and most effective way to do it.

The thai round kick is, for what it does, the best round kick on the market.

what do you mean by the real thing?

Why..oh why ???

sorry (hangs head in shame and disappears)

Thing that I like about this clip:

  • Use downward elbow instead of horizontal elbow (harder to block it).
  • Raise leg first, then snape it.
  • Use your body to pull your leg.
  • Without target, you can’t stand right.
  • Waist target is an excellent idea.
  • Put hand next to the face as target.
  • Kick over a bench.
  • In head level roundhouse kick, kee pass your opponent’s head.
  • In head level roundhouse kick, go up and then cut 45 degree downward.
  • Add I-Shi breathing into your kick.
  • Skip back leg, pass front leg, kick front leg.
  • Raise your knee then move in circle. Kick and move in circle.
  • Use outside arm to block kick and use inside arm to catch it.
  • Roundkick at your opponent’s back outside upper leg, inside and outside of the front upper leg.

It’s sad that I can recognize the opening music from internet porn.
