Sock Wrestling

I was at a brewery and they had a tiny ring set up - about 12x12 maybe - for sock wrestling. Anyone ever heard of this before or is it another odd local thing?

> S.W.O.L. Sock-Off Invitational Sign-Ups

The goal of Sock Wrestling is to remove your opponent’s sock. In the ring you agree to represent Sock Wrestling Official League (SWOL) and abide by our code of conduct. Theatrics are encouraged. This is a serious business. By entering the ring you agree that you will not intentionally injure your opponent or yourself. By entering the ring you are taking full responsibility for any outcomes and will not hold any other party responsible for injuries, damages, stains, or shame and acknowledge that you may be silly stringed by fans during the match and/or incur small Vienna sausages being tossed at you.

You and your opponent each start in the middle of the ring on one knee with one hand behind your back and the other lovingly interlocked with your opponent’s. You each have one sock on your kneeling foot. The goal is to remove your opponents sock using distraction, theatrics, cool controlled WWE moves, & skill. Leaving the ring during a match will disqualify you and be considered a forfeiture to your opponent. You can bounce off the ring, but not throw/tackle your opponent into the ropes unless pre-choreographed. Grappling/wrestling is fair and encouraged, but frantic or overly aggressive moves may result in referees calling the match early. Fancy tricks, flips, and props are fine as long movements seem controlled and safe. Again, anything seeming unsafe may result in referees ending the match. This is not boxing, UFC, or “fighting”; this is an extreme objective-based performance art of passion, discipline, and integrity that we will be taking to the olympics; FOR NICOLAS! Please respect your opponent, referees, and the sport, so everyone can have fun.
