Roy Jones Jr (the Real Deal)

He is 1 of the best boxers i have ever seen & the best around out of the boxers these days. He is even taking on guys heavier than him & winning cuz theres no1 left thats good enough or he hasnt ko in his weight. If he was a heavyweight he would be known as 1 of the greatest of all time & he would ko any of the wannabe fighters in the HW division these days. Thou i think it would be a great fight if Jones jr had some more weight on him vs Tyson in his younger days or even Ali. Or even Jones jr vs Tommy “Hitman” Hearns or Hagler or either of the Sugar Rays, Leonard or Robinson. 1 of my favorites as well Kostya Tszu with some more muscle vs Jones jr.
Jones is so fast & those combos even when hes backing up. I think he would be a great chinese boxer especially in the sthn. styles. No offence to the nthn. styles its just that he would be more suited to the sthn. hand techs. thou he proberbly could make any style work & theres a lot of nthn. arts that excel in hand techs. to. My bad, he uses a lot of fast long range punches in combos, similiar a bit to choy lee fut long arms & im sure other styles.

Did any1 c the fight today with Jones jr vs Glen “Giant” Kelly?
How did it go & what round did Jones KO Kelly?

I saw a highlights of the fight. Jones basically toyed with the poor schlub. One of the knockdowns,Jones dropped him in this one round with a gut shot! A gut shot! You know when was the last time I saw someone get floored with a gut shot? When Tyson was still champ! He eventually knocked him out, by bading the guy in. He put his hands behind his back and faked with his shoulders. When the guy stepped in…WOOP,WOOP! Knocked him the he!l out! Jones makes things look to easy.

7th round KO in that Jones fight. Ray Mercer knocked a guy through the ropes with a gut shot.

Its not the 1st time Jones jr has taken his opponent out with a body shot. Shows how good he is, the bodys a bigger target.
The body has got some of the best places to hit 4 eg. kidneys, ribs, below armpits & my favorite the soler plexus. As a m. artist im surprised u dont know this. At school (primary & high school) i used to luv useing my mates & guys in class as a punching bag. I used to always wind them, u dont even have to hit hard just the wright spot. The teachers used to always say keep ur hands to urself or keep ur hands where i can c them. The guys used to hate sitting next to me but the girls used to luv it. :stuck_out_tongue:
Even now thou when i spar 1 of my fav places to hit is the body. If u hit in the wright spot u can do some real damage & some places u hit connects real sweet. (some spots feel as if there hollow & vibrate)

Did you guys hear Jones and Hopkins talking s.hit to each other after hopkins’ fight?

I loved the RJJ fight. For once, he was motivated to do damage - I think he was ****ed about hopkins s.hit talking and wanted to make a point.

I wanna see Jonesjr-Hopkins 2. Hopkins has gotten better, and Jones’ll have two hands to fight with this time. Thing is, Hopkins won’t be afraid of Jones like so many of his opponents are, it could be a good fight. However, RJJ would almost certainly win.

Yeah, I loved that finishing move Jones used last night. He put both his hands behind is back, then began dodging his opponents punches, then Jones threw a couple punches after he pulls his hands back out and knocks the guy down and wins.

GA, I think he made that comment because you don’t see it too often. you see more fighters dropped from headshots than gutshots.

Roy Jones Jr beat the sheet out of that dude to prove a point to Hopkins.
You heard him after the fight “Firts I would like to thank God, second Hopkins you ****ed me off”
Hopkins is an idiot, 60/40 is amazing deal for someone who has lost to an opponent already, and wants to become more famous. A fight with jones will elevate and he knows it, he kknows he will lose and wants to get the most amount o money for it.

Hopkins IS a good fighter. But because of the Trinidad fight I think he’s become overrated. I think Hopkins won that fight mostly due to lack of preperation on Trinidads part. He was undefeated, mopping ppl up left and right, expected Hopkins to be a tough fight, but nothing he can’t handle. I also think he was looking pass Hopkins, and at RJJ. If Hopkins were to fight Trinidad again, he would most defiantely lose. A Trinidad/RJJ fight would be more interesting than a Hopkins/RJJ fight. Either way both fighters would have their a*ses handed to them by ROY JONES JR.!!!

Sevenstar, that’s exactly what I meant.

Roy Jones Jr is on his way to becoming one of the great fighters of our time.
His boxing is a treat to watch. Very clean and good technique.
I root for him

peace

jones is my #1 no doubt. no one moves like him, puts punches together like him and straight exudes the dominant presence like him. rare breed.

Yung Apprentice & SevenStar, my bad.

I would like to c Jones vs Hopkins. Hopkins has been talkn sh!t to Jones 4 a long time. Hopkins is a good fighter but not to be put in the class of Jones, & as u guys said if he was hyped from Hopkins talkn sh!t vs Kelly. Than Jones would really want to xecute the xecutioner & be at his best.
Jones should hit the juice(roids) & go take out the big boys.:stuck_out_tongue:

Has anyone seen the finals in the olympics at Seoul when RJJ got robbed of the gold? That is the one incident that got the point counting system in boxing to be changed. That is the worst boxing moment of my life, just awful… :frowning:

I would still be interested in a Trinidad/RJJ fight. If he beat both Hopkins and Trinidad, there would be no doubt in any boxing speialists mind he his the best pound for pound.

crap

“If Hopkins were to fight Trinidad again, he would most defiantely lose. A Trinidad/RJJ fight would be more interesting than a Hopkins/RJJ fight. Either way both fighters would have their a*ses handed to them by ROY JONES JR.!!!”

(1) Hopkins would destroy Tito again. Period. Tito was exposed for being the one dimensional north-soth slugger that he is. He failed to make adjustments against Bernard and he got a painful boxing lesson. I don’t know what fight you watched but Hopkins put a clinic on Tito. Tito like Naseem Hamed stepped to the wrong guy. Tito will probably fight Oscar again and get ripped up.

(2) Jones would demolish Tito.

(3) RJJ didn’t exactly destroy Bernard the first time around. Something tells me Jones doesn’t want to see Bernard again. It would be too tough of a fight and Jones doesn’t like to get hit nor hurt.

It’s hilarious when people keep disrespecting Bernard while he goes marching to the hall of fame.
:stuck_out_tongue:

Have you guys seen Ricky Hatton in the US yet? He’s got the most devestating body shots I’ve ever seen

If he’s not big over there yet then I expect he soon will be - he’s the mutts nuts

I love Roy Jones and root for him always…BUT, look at most of his recent opponents. They are chumps that don’t stand a chance against someone like Roy. I want to see Roy in an epic battle where he has to show heart and dig deep for a win. Remember Jones last fight before this past Saturday’s?? Not exactly a convincing RJJ win.
I still think he’s the best PFP though.

hello maybe you guys forgot or you didnt see roy jones fight with hopkins the first time, but he dint do so good. hopkins got tired and lazy late in the fight, so yeah he got beat, but hopkins is much better and meaner now. roy knows this, and i dont think he wants a piece of him again.

hopkins is a much better fighter than people think especially people who dont know boxing. but like roy he is hard to hit, and he hits hard, and when a guy is running and he is mad (roy and bernard) he has good accuracy. this will be a good fight, but i think hopkins will take roy only because roys last war was a long time ago. that italian and black guy was aggressive but not enough skill, so he dont count.

Good job Kuntaw.

I saw most of the fight, it was awesome, Roy Jones Jr. is one of the best fighters I have seen.

In the 7th he had his hands behind him, leaning back against and holding onto the ropes, in order to draw in his opponent who was refusing to commit and open himself up…so he’s dodging and ducking punches back and forth against the rope, and then delivers a perfectly timed knock-out counter punch.

Unbelievable, I havent seen anything like that since Muhammed Ali’s ‘rope-a-dope’!
