Hello and welcome. This thread serves as an online p2p multilingual teaching institute for all KFO members. Here’s your chance to learn the basics and beyond – and it’s 100% free! If you want a word or a phrase translated, just post it here and we’ll get back to you in no time.
Currently, our renown teachers are:
bodhitree - candidate commissioner for mandarin
chen zhen – commissioner for danish
Former Castleva – commissioner for finnish
Kristoffer – commissioner for swedish
Laughing Cow - candidate commissioner for german
quiet man – commissioner for croatian
Sho - candidate commissioner for japanese
We are looking for commissioners for other world languages, especially chinese and japanese. If you are proficient in a language, no matter how obscure, please apply. The more the merrier.
the word ORA should have been in the title.. but oh well..:rolleyes:
I know which people on the forums that are from japan and china, maybe I can make 'em come here. Yeah?
Also: now you have to commercialise it, like I did with the contests. Place a link to it in your sig or something.
I can do Japanese single word and phrase translations from time to time. But as you know, sometimes it’s very difficult to find correct translations for phrases. Things that I’ll not bother to translate are jokes, vulgar expressions, etc.
Yeah, but FC IS the main finnish translator, so maybe we should wait for him to show up.. because, it would make more sense that there’s one for finnish, one for japanese, etc than having 2 on the same lingo. U see what I mean?
But please go on with the japanese!
More translations:
Throw: Kast
Joint-lock: ledlås
Takedown: Nedtagning
Leg-sweep: Benfejning
Choke: kvælertag /there’s a better translation for this, I just don’t remember it. rough translation: strangulation-hold)

Thanks, sho. And don’t worry about jokes or curses, we’re dead serious here.

Roger that. But I hope it’s not all martial terminology, because I’m not that good at it. :eek:

throw = nage
joint lock = kansetsuwaza
takedown = I don’t know this one (maybe the JJJ/Judo people can help me out)
leg sweep = ashi barai
choke = shime
Chen zhen, I’m not so sure about the ‘one language - one (wo)man’ thing. Two heads know more than one. (edit - of course, we would need to have an agreement…)
Or are you maybe worried about your title ? In that case, you can be chief commissioner for danish.

No man, I just think in efficient ways, on how to make this work. I AM the organiser of 2 sexy-contests, u know.. I know what works, and what does’nt in this KFO world:rolleyes:
And yeah, let’s change from martial terminology.. what should the next subject be?
