I think you hit on a problem seen across martial arts and not just CLF. Too often we all see people trying to make a name for themselves. Everyone wants to be called sifu and everyone wants to be famous.
I remember reading someone talking about learning CLF from someone in North Carolina and saying his sifu was a student of LKH. I have been at the school since 1994 and I know everyone and all of the instructors are in this area. If he was learning CLF it was likely from books or video tapes and he was passing BS on to his students saying he followed sifu.
Personally, I don’t like people to know who I am, makes it easier to just practice and work on my own kung fu. Kung fu is my passion and it is nice to enjoy it without having to worry about trivial matters. Nothing against those you like to teach it is just I have done it and like to have my own time instead.

i have seen the kuen po’s. When i went to china in 2oo1. also Master fred spencer has actual video footage of them on his website. they flip through the kuen po’s on camera.

In November 2006, the 12th Provincial Sport meeting will launch in Foshan, and the corresponding activities will be held accordingly. At the same time, Hong Sheng Guan will come to its 155th anniversary, and decides to hold the celebration with all the international peers in August 2006. Hong Sheng Guan has decided to invite all the international peers to come back to the origin of Chai Lee Fat, and take part in the gathering. During the gathering, there will be activities for discussion on the development of Chai Lee Fat and also, the interactive Martial Art performance. The arrangement for the anniversary is as follows:
Time Period: Three days, end of August 2006 (26th,27th,28th)
Fist Day, Welcome the international peers and arrange the accommodation. Welcome party at night and detailed celebration activities is under negotiation.
Second Day,
At 8:30, welcome the governors, the honored guests and the domestic and oversea peers in Hong Sheng Guan.
At 9:00 am, anniversary begins. The related governors, guests and peers will deliver the speech, with the Lion Dancing performance.
At 10:00 am, a ceremonial on admiring the forebears of Hong Sheng Guan.
From 14 pm to 17:30 pm, interactive Martial Art performance, and Lion Dance.
At night, Party on celebration
Third Day, organize the Foshan touring for the peers who are interested in the activity.

we also have a lot that dfw doesn’t have too. like clf from the wong sei lineage, and that of Ho cherng, and more direct stuff from Tong Sek, and Chan Ngau Sing.
when DFW went to Fut San recently to “restore” Lau Bun’s name to the Fut San Lineage, guess what happened when he got there? Too late, my sifu and i already installed and restored Lau Bun’s memory and school back into the fut san lineage. LOL

Well here we are again folks, only 4 posts into a thread that mentions DFW and Frank launches into yet another jaundiced tirade against the evils of DFW, and how it’s not fair that just because DFW has a huge international association with thousands of students, he writes numerous articles and published books, has 3 whole series of successful CLF videos/DVDs he somehow manages to get more attention than Frank, who as everyone knows is the keeper of REAL CLF .
Shock horror!!! :eek: :rolleyes: a few posts in and someone challenges Frank’s position and he wades in with the personal attacks and inane insults. I’m stunned, I’ve NEVER seen THAT kind of behaviour from Frank before :rolleyes:
How is it Frank, if you’re so wronged by everyone then why is it the only person I see slagging of other CLF teachers on the internet to try and strengthen their own position and personally attacking anyone who doesn’t agree with them is YOU? I don’t see chatrooms full of plum blossom students sat round criticising you, I don’t see communities of LKH guys sat round complaining how you peddle your own view of CLF history to push your own agenda, I see Frank, shooting his mouth of YET AGAIN.
Over the past 2 years you have caused incalculable harm to the CLF community. We’ve gone from being the most cohesive style out there, to being viewed as on a par with Wing Chun and SPM when it comes to politics. ALL BECAUSE OF YOU!!!
You have lost face yourself, for your sifu, for your line and for CLF, and you’re so dumb and arrogant YOU CAN’T EVEN SEE IT!!! You’ve scared off potential students and lost friends before you’ve had a chance to make them.
The really sad thing is that I know that you love CLF Frank, and you’ve clearly got a lot of drive. Unfortunately this is linked to a blinkered worldview, a view of China and Kung fu that seems to owe more to the Shaw brothers than reality, a wickedly short temper and a childish lack of respect for others, all wrapped up in a persecution complex which as far as I can see is based entirely upon jealousy and an imagined slight 20 years ago. Let it go, move on. If you spent all the considerable time and effort that you currently devote to attacking DFW to promoting your school, YOU WOULD GAIN THE RECOGNITION AND RESPECT YOU DESIRE!!!

However, the contradiction is…after contacting many of the choy lee fut schools which include the chan, hung sing and buk sing branches–their responce to my websites are super encouraging, and I got the responce from those who matter, and not just a small hand full of you here.
Not one email in responce to my creating the “3 Families of Choy Lee Fut” site has been negative. In fact, I have been told people are proud of what I’ve done so far. so I’m not really going to take what you said too seriously. it just sounds like you are a little bitter.
in all actuality, the number of forms, how many schools and such are only things commercial schools and students focus on. The proof is in the pudding in the quality of gung fu, and that is what i focus on.
