Attn: The Meecer and all you other wusses

I’m sick of hearing this “can’t we all just get along” crap from you guys.

The fact is that there is no such thing as a “martial arts” community.

We are not all “brothers and sisters” in martial arts.

In fact there probably many of us that couldn’t even sit in the same room together.

The truth is that most martial artists are fiercely independent people.

If they weren’t they’d be playing volleyball or soccer or some other team sport.

They are fiercely proud of their own style and their own tradition.

The reason that they picked the style that they are in is because in their mind they thought it was “the best.”

And if they stuck with it then in their minds it is still "the best. "

What’s the point of my thread?

Despite this fiercely independent mindset. We still hate to see people being slighted by HUCKSTERS and CHARLATANS.

There are people out there who misrepresent themselves as having FIGHTING ABILITY or even ELEMENTARY martial arts training.

They have the audacity to CHARGE people for what they have no real knowledge of themselves.

To people who are receiving GENUINE training the difference is obvious.

To those that are new to martial arts and have no background they will get taken for a very costly RIDE.

I have people in my school who got taken for $1000’s of dollars by fraudulent “martial arts” organizations only to realize that the stuff they were learning was totally made up and ineffective.

Sorry guys…I have no problem calling outright FRAUDs when I see them. Hopefully, it will help potential students who read this forum from wasting their time and money.

I would never judge an individual martial artist without seeing him perform.
There are good karate practioners, taekwondo, BJJ, etc, etc.
And there are bad ones.

I still have respect for those that mights “suck” as long as they don’t lie about what they are.

When I go to a website and see huge cultural inconsistencies(which you would only realize if you studied Asian culture), ridiculous lineage claims, ridiculous title claims and the quality of the performances that I see on clips from so called “masters” is sub par it raises BIG red flags.

If we are any kind of “community” we must weed these people out and expose them for what they are.

In the old days you’d just go down to their school and challenge them to a test of hands. Not so easy a thing to do in this day and age.

As The Meecer incorrectly surmised I’m not berating someone’s style. I’m calling out frauds and charlatans and saving the “face” of our “community.”

And also, no one said that we have to be “nice” about it. It’s not “nice” to take someone for their time and money either.

Ciao

Sh!t… Ive said a million times Im up for friendly challenges. Also said I dont represent SD and vice versa…

Yeah man, us SDers are ruining YOUR kung fu community…

“In fact there probably many of us that couldn’t even sit in the same room together”

Never learned social skills eh?

“If they weren’t they’d be playing volleyball or soccer or some other team sport.”

I do those things for fun all the time. Good cardio.

"The reason that they picked the style that they are in is because in their mind they thought it was “the best.” "

We should replace “they” with “I” Im assuming?

You know what sucks? When your too caught up b!tching about something you dont even bother to go check out, that has basically no affect on you whatsoever, that you cant use the forum to learn… And since your such a “real kung fuer” you could have used the 3 minutes it took to type that thread to train, instead of b!tch.

We should replace “they” with “I” Im assuming?

Really though, that is the case in a lot of situations… many people kind of fall into it as well.

Yes, its what we call mindless ignorance, or delusions of grandeur.

F.U.

I’m touched that you care so much about me and my wallet.

Now go train or something and leave all of us ‘wusses’ alone.

lofl… whatever guy. Many of us with experience in more than 1 style or more than 1 or 2 years of MA know that theres no such thing as “THE BEST” style…

The truth is that most martial artists are fiercely independent people.

what you talkin’ bout, willis?
I think of the people @ my kwoon as my family.
A disfunctional, violent family.

Cause were wimpy SDers I guess.

Actually, if this isnt your mind frame fu pow, I feel sorry for you.

He’s probably the one who gets mad durring sparring and huals off and pops somebody in the face.

“its not lack of control dude, its just raw skill”

Fu-Pow is right to the degree that there is alot of politics in the martial arts world. Maybe the word “Community” carries along with it some inferrences that are not necessarily accurate. People will be people, and they will have thier differences, biases, partisan stances etc.
I don’t fully subscribe to the whole name calling thing. This concept of a “utopian martial arts community” is idealistic, and in my reconing a paradox. But if anyone wants to aspire for this, its up to them, really, who am i to say.
To me asking the martial arts community to get along with each other, is like asking the animal kingdom to get along with each other. Its not gonna happen.
Also most of fu-pows aggression seemed to be directed at calling out frauds. Is that so wrong. I’d appreciate it if I were getting involved in a long term commitment that’s not what it seems, and someone saved me from getting a raw deal. Knowledge is power.
Now let’s all agree to disagree:mad:

It’s funny how all the SDers mindlessly REACT to a thread that really wasn’t even about them.

It kind of reminds me of some kind of Pavlovian experiment with pigeons and electrodes.

Anyways, my post was more about the fact that my thread about “fake” kung fu sites was locked.

I’m just trying to explain where I’m coming from.

I do, of course, think that Shaolin Do is fraudulent.

Your post seems to imply SD in general no? (considering the usual redundant ass arguments about it)

Maybe you should be a little more specific on who you are attacking?

once upon a time, not long ago…
I argued that it was some art-forms sux, and I was put in my place by a single sentance.
“isn’t it the man or woman that should be blamed as opposed to the art?”

well..specifically frauds , who the cap fits let 'em wear it.

I don’t have beef with shaolin-do, but i do have beef with karate brown belts who learn wushu from video tape and then claim to be sifus and teach kung-fu.

I’d go as far as to say 85% percent of MA in the US is “fraud” or “American-ized”.

"It’s funny how all the SDers mindlessly REACT to a thread that really wasn’t even about them. "

“I do, of course, think that Shaolin Do is fraudulent.”

puts in his bubba teeth “hurrr… okay guy”

“attn meercer and all you other wusses”

"It’s funny how all the SDers mindlessly REACT to a thread that really wasn’t even about them. "

“I do, of course, think that Shaolin Do is fraudulent.”

Yeah…

Whatever. Your style is tops dude.

Fu who?

What style does Fu Pow study? Is it Babble Fu? Does he rant his opponents to death? If you rant and noone cares do you still sound ridiculous? I think Fu Pow is a former Shaolin Do student who couldn’t hang. So now he’s working out in the basement, and going online trolling in between bouts of Tekken 4 on the PS2. Some fresh air and sunshine would do ya good Fu. It also might help you find some presentable evidence, I’m talking about some photos, an article or two, an investigative report by Geraldo perhaps. Anything that says concretely that Shaolin Do or any other art whose credibility you challenge is a fraud. Until you can produce some hard facts to back up your mouth…close it. You’re right, there is no rule that says we all have to get along. You’re also not the only one who wishes it were a little more like the old days when it comes to settling these kinds of debates. Maybe we’ll get lucky and run into each other at an open tourny somewhere. I ain’t real hard to spot. Until then, happy training…even if it is only on the keyboard. Oh and don’t forget to tell your half-blind buddy w/CP that he can cruise on down Louisville way anytime he’s done getting patronized by you and yours.

FU-pow, bless your heart, but you’re a moron. My initial reaction to your thread was anger and being pushed to my limit. In fact here is what I was originally going to post:

Ok FU-Pow, the gloves are coming off. What are you wanting? Do you want a challenge? Do you want a chance to prove your claims? Or an attempt to embarrass us? Please speak up because you have some sort of agenda and I am wondering what is fueling that. If it is a challenge you want, although I think the concept is ridiculous, then I’m game. I do not represent SD and no matter the outcome, it doesn’t give credence to either person’s stance. I could beat you and it may only because I am a better fighter and not due to my art. That is why I say that course of action is ridiculous. Maybe it would help your anger problem by attempting to take it out on one of us ‘so-called’ fake kung fu artists. I will say, I am not into friendly challenges. If this is the course you want to take, it will be a fight. I will do everything in my power to maim and permanently blind you. If you come at me, you may even hurt me, but I guarantee that will be the last time you have the use of your eyes.

But the more I think about it, that wouldn’t be the correct course of action. Even though I would revel in the thought of making you eat those words, I’m not that type of person.

You claim that martial artists can’t sit in the same room, well maybe for you, but not for the rest of us. I recently went to an open TKD tournament. I had the ability to go up and praise the ability of a traditional karate stylist, a kung fu/wu shu artist, as well as a few others. It never crossed my mind to ridicule them.

You state that we SDers mindlessly react to a thread that really wasn’t even about them. Son, I didn’t ride the little bus to school. Your intentions are clear when you start a new thread after showing yourself in other threads. You attempt to make yourself seem bigger by belittling others.

You also say it’s not “nice” to take someone for their time and money either. Well I am glad they took me for my time and my money. Apparently with all of the fake techniques they taught me they also gave me the ability to defend myself from three attackers, who would have otherwise beat me black and blue.
