what is the original dragon kf ?

Me too

I actually have a few questions about Southern Dragon. It’s a pretty rare style, but one that has caught my fancy.

What is the primary distance range of the style (if there is one).

Is it a style where the internal developes the external, or the other way around?

Am I asking the wrong questions?

Dragon Style

Hi Diego - always happy to chat about Lung Ying if you have questions…eviljungle - Dragon is considered a mid-range style (leaning towards short).

Cheers - Kevin

As ******** would say:

“Dude, dragon ROCKS, huh huh… huh huh!”

You won’t find too much info out there, but I’m sure a few people on this forum, like Kevin and Mantis 108, will be more than happy to answer any questions.

Like any art that you get serious about, it’s difficult to describe lung ying to someone who’s not learning it. The style is technical and builds progressively. The system has been held close to the family, so it’s principals have remained relatively pure. If you find a master to learn from, you will have a teerrific journey.

in my style we have a set called dragon dance

init is many strikes from differant feetplays all using the dragon claw"thumb, index&middle fingertips"
can you guys tell me about the claw hand and fighting stance sayings–like do you guys curve your chest // tounge on pallette sink shoulders etc…stuff like that.

is the system most known to date back to shaolin is that the sane techniques you would find in shaolin 5animal kf–tiger, leo, crane, snake&DRAGON.

Diego,

No, Lung Ying is not the same as the dragon in Shaolin Five Animals.

whats with chinese kf and dragon posturing

you see in many styles especially family dragon frames..was there like a really famous school and everyone copyied what they could from that method or???

What’s with dragon…

For a starter, dragon is majestic and mysterious.

Lung Ying is, IMHO, conceptual. In other words, it is not an imitation of an imaginary creature, rather it is an inspiration of an imaginary creature. The principles (martial, civil and spiritual) of this art often elevates self cultivation to an extraordinary plateau which infatuates, even intoxicate, the practitioners. Try it, you will fall madly in love with Lung Ying.

Lung Ying Moh Kiew

Hi Mantis108 - you hit the nail right on the head! Very nicely put!

Cheers - kevin

im not talking about the opium aspects of the aura on the lung

in the ching dynasty was there a main school that inspired frames in hungar/hopga/bakmie-----and even pakua and hsingyi???

Lung Ying

Is HAM HUN BAAT BOI an aspect of Lung Ying? I thought the shoulders were rounded like systems such as Bakmei, sth mantis YKM.

Thanks, Kevin

Thanks for the kind words, my friend.

What’s with the opium comment?

First and foremost, I would like to clarify the word “intoxicate” has nothing to do with any substance abuse, soft nor hard. It is meant to be a figure of speech in a literary sense. For the record, I am against the use of any drugs (even pot) as “recreational” use. Now if people want to ruin their lives, be my guest. I personal don’t associate with such people. No one in the Lung Ying and Bak Mei (those I have personal contact with) that I know of has ever have substance abuse problem. If you are interested in fabricate “facts”, well… it’s your right.

Obviously, you have something else on your mind and I bid you good luck in your search.

are you positive the ol school masters didnt use for creativity???

in this day and age im fully agianst also …its a waste of time

but i just read within this year they opened up shakespeares old house and found like 40 pipes with veriying substances from coca to similar to lsd etc.. didnt meen to disrespect it was scripted in haste

but the question still stands.

was there a major school in shaolin that later ching era family styles developed there dragon methods..
i ask because of similaritys i have seen at facevalue in articles n such plus many arts have drunken sets at hi levels so things like that lead me to believe there is/was a general consensus of flavor behind the reasoning/creativity of chinese martial arts.

take care

it is not an imitation of an imaginary creature, rather it is an "inspiration"of an imagin

that is the line that made me throw in that comment as a header

like you always have things like chase the dragon etc and kung fu thought at higher/hardcore levels many nowadays could not relate

like theres either the school of zen or the school of triad adrenaline rush hope that makes sense

whereas nowadays alot of school of thoughts is tea&biscuits over a warm fire…

and if you look at the culture of stoners since the 60s you see many cliche actions
and opium was a major part of chinese history
so who knows what the olschool creators intentions were.

this has nothing todo with my question just a hiddenthought bubbling

and no i have never even smelled opium but i do understand cultures arising from foriegn substances

damn hope i didnt offend yall

hehe

Is Spaten Oktoberfest considered an addictive substance?

How about Leffe? Samuel Smith’s Oatmeal Stout?
