…I’ll just take the food…and I won’t even make a fuss because to me that’s just a little precious…take the food , do your workout and quit complaining…

Interesting point. I for one won’t compromise my morals, regardless of the circumstances (well, almost - the movie Alive comes to mind). You may have (well, do have ;)) different morals to me so for you eating turtle is fine. But what about tiger penis, which I understand is a highly valued ingredient in some Asian countries? Would you eat tiger penis soup if it were offered to you? At the risk of offending my hosts, I would never, never eat that. I would use the refusal as an opportunity to try to educate my hosts to why I think it’s unacceptable practice.
In the meantime I’ll continue to whinge and complain.
Lol! I thought that when I was typing it. But it’s hard to think of a more majestic animal in so much trouble from humans that is valued so highly as a “TCM substance”. IIRC it supposedly enhances virility. Why don’t they just use viagra? Anyway, maybe another thing I wouldn’t eat is shark fin soup due to the “fishing” practices. More “palatable” example? Sharks are often caught and finned and the fish thrown back in. Mostly still alive.
Originally posted by blooming lotus I think someone said in another thread that monks are no ordinary people ( even though they will beg to differ)…same goes for many chinese people and others in devloping nations…the constitution of these folks is extraordinary…something you just don’t see like that in the west…and diet isn’t even half of it
Us vs Them
Here we go again, desparate to paint difference, someone always better then others yeah?
Lucky humans all breathe the same air.
you know…you pay somebody a compliment without it having a negative connotation to whoever the comment wasn’t directed at
as for pe*is soup…now you’re just being your regular grown self…no I wouldn’t…but if my life depended on it…maybe I would…I often do baga fasts and can go along time without food, but I’m not stupid and I am familiar with my limits…sorry dude…but generally 'm just too busy for juivenile trolling, so excuse me…

that’s a mistake that some people who do atkins make. They assume that since they are not eating carbs, they are cool. Some of them don’t look at overall calorie intake, and still gain weight.
here in China a protein shake is a foreign concept, so searching for different sources available locally…spoke to my schools pe teacher…turtle…he reckons we should eat freakin turtle …
apparently more than 10 x protein of eggs??? can’t f*ck with that logic but forgive me 'cause I plan to do it and enjoy the respective health…
“Eating turtle eggs is very common in Costa Rica and Central America
Countries. People believe that are afrodisiac. We did a chemistry
annalisis from the olive ridley eggs. we found that turtle egg is a half
of a hen egg in all their properties: proteins, carbohidrates, water
content, ash, fats, colesterol etc. The only difference was the turtle
egg have more protein content in the shell..”
here’s something else I found. scroll down until you see turtle.

Stfu BL. I was trying to start up a legitimate discussion. I am able to discuss penises without childish giggling. I hoped you would be able to too. Anyway, if you can’t, then FC’s example was a good illustration of why I wouldn’t eat freshwater turtles/tortoises either. I know about saltwater ones and freshies in Oz. I suspected as much about freshies in SE Asia but held my tongue. Thanks FC.
I sound like a savage…but I’m a vego..I swear it!! but If turtle is all there is…and it’s the best sorce of nutrition that my body needs for the time( limits taken into acount)..according to my belief system, to not take it is silly..It stops me from acheiving all the good I can in the future because of precious thought..so I thank the turtle for his sacrifice ( very very quietly) and eat without complaint..and instead to honour his life am extremly appreciative and enjoy every bite…
As usual, you really send out mixed messages. You can’t be a vegetarian and eat meat because of current circumstances. So, at the moment, no, you’re not a vegetarian.
Also, is “achieving all the good you can” worth more than the survival of a particular turtle species? I realise that sounds all high and mighty from a meat eater, but my argument is I disagree with knowingly eating endangered animals.
but a. yes was a vegetarian until health called for some attention…
and B…no, life not worth more than an etire species but, really…have very small appetite and take only what I need with as little harm to any part of environment as poss…if I wasn’t a buddhist I could nearly be hippy ( providing coud keep my products )

All it takes is 1 billion Chinese with very small appetites …
Anyway, I’ll get off my soapbox now. I shouldn’t try to impose my morals onto anyone else. It’s not like I’m perfect myself …
