The 14 Super Foods

This is similar to a reply I made to Ultimatewingchun’s The Big Seven.
Recently I was at my grandmothers house and found a great book in her kitchen called the 14 Super Foods. After reading a little, it didnt take long for me to realize how great it was.

I keep a list of them in my wallet so I will never forget:

Beans
Blueberris
Broccolli
Oats
Oranges
Pumpkin
Salmon
Soy
Spinach (one of my new found favorites)
Tea-Green or Black
Tomatoes
Turkey
Walnuts
Yogurt

Spinich isnt very good cooked, but its great fresh as a salad with tomatoes and a little oil vinagar dressing.

There is no such thing as a “Superfood.” There are only essential nutrients, which can be taken in from a variety of sources.

That’s why an Inuit diet and a Middle Eastern diet both work fine.

Spinach can be really good cooked!

Saute some fresh spinach and 1 clove of garlic in a little olive oil.

Crap must come out of your mouth allot Merrypankster. Maybe thats why you have so many stupid quotes. You may think I care about what your trying to say, but I’m sure most of the members here would agree with me that you just sound like an ass.

These so called Super Foods just happen to contain “your” essential nutrients. Its just food, either eat it or don’t. I’m not ruling out any other foods, these just happen to be the most nutritious. Try to not be so serious, you will live longer.

Thanks for the tip Reggie, but the reason I don’t like cooked spinich is because it tends to get sour.

I’ll second that! mmmmmm…

(altho’ I tend to use a whole bulb of garlic instead of a clove… also, that enova oil - tho’ not as flavourfull - is supposed to be an excellent substitute for all other oils in cooking)

Actually, when you start to speak for most members on here, the only one that sounds like an ass is YOU!

Actually that was a pretty low-keyed tone for MP. He’s been abit cranky lately. I don’t think he was trying to rip your post TKF, just pointing something out.

Why turkey and not chicken? Chicken’s cheaper and leaner isn’t it?

What sort of beans?

I agree they’re nutritious but I still wouldn’t call them ‘Super Foods’. They’re many other foods out there that are equally nutritious.

GANG BANG BLACK

stubbs: turkey contains nutrients not found in chicken. The meat comes from different kinds of poultry, so they contain different properties. Some beans are better then others, but they all are generally good for you.

ewallece: I appreciate your concern, but the truth is he WAS just ripping my post. He is only afraid he has to defend his own diet. If he wants to talk about the similarities in diets then he should post it under “the similarities in diets”

Chief Fox: Next time I will speak for everyone except Chief Fox, because he has issues no one will ever be able to figure out. Good luck finding other threads that you can leave similar idiotic one liners on.

You guys should read the book if you’re not sure what to post.

Sounding very trollish there turtle: I find it funny that someone with a total of 7 post feels that he can speak for “most members”. Of course I could be wrong.

I disagree with Oranges and Turkey as superfoods.IMO I find Kale and carrot to be far superior I do not see to many veggies listed on this list I think Garlic and Onion would be a must(Kiwi and peppers have more vitamin C then Oranges)
.A superfood is a food that has high nutrient value in one area or multi nutrient value causing great health beneifits.I don’t think there can be a complete list of superfoods there are so many foods that have great effects on the body like Renshi or special culivated Bat droppings.

Hey look I can quote too. How fun.

It’s very clear why you have so many posts Chief; you can’t keep your mouth shut. I took a look at your oh so important workout journal. Who the hell would want to know all that crap? If you’re so desperate to perfect your workout hire a trainer for god’s sake. The only person who would be slightly interested is maybe your boyfriend from the gym.

I had a carrot today. Does that make me a hypocrite?

You guys should read the book if you’re not sure what to post.

Correct me if I am wrong but generally speaking when one decides to post about an interesting book one has read there is no established prerequisite for a response. If that were true internet BB’s wouldn’t be so popular.

Perhaps if you are looking for a detailed discussion of the book ONLY with those who have read it and appreciate it, then you should find the book’s web site. However, I would be interested if you would like to share more about the book, for instance WHY are those foods specifically listed as the Super Foods?

Cheers,

Laugh

I love spinach!

You should add Jr. Bacon Cheeseburgers to that list

j/k :stuck_out_tongue:

Take your grandmom’s book and go troll somewhere else sh!t for brains.

Yes littlelaugh you are wrong. I don’t realy care how popular BB forums are. That oviously wouldn’t matter to me because I’m already using one. I wasn’t interested in a detailed discussion of the book. I’m only giving out free information.

I don’t really worry too much about why those foods work, I just eat them. Yes, there are other foods with similar nutritional value which they list along side them like carrots being an alternative to oranges if you find them too acidic. These are also not a means to rule out any other tasty foods.

Sorry, I can’t really provide you with anymore information on the subject. If it sounds interesting to you, I suggest checking out the book.

IronFist, I like Jr. Bacon Cheeseburgers too. You should try the Sourdough Jack, its heaven.

I will not be posting anything else on this subject, no matter how ignorant you sound.

I thought of a long, detailed, reasoned, interesting, informative reply to this thread… but I’m just going to limit my response to

‘Another ****ing retard.’

Ooooo!

AAAACK!

Exaggeratedly slumps to the floor in a heap

Ya got me doc!

Please don’t let them send little Nellie to the work farms!

And take good care of my pet halibut, Eric!

YEEEEEEEE-AAAAARGH!

dies

Why you gotta go calling me a halibut MP? Man a lot of crap does come out your mouth.

What beautiful trolling!

Well, I’m the sort that likes to understand the whys of things and also the sort that doesn’t believe everything I read. Such is life.
