My opinion
Hello,
My opinion would be the following three people:
Sum Nung-although I have never met him I hear nothing but good things about his level of skill. Also his students have very good reputations as well.
Chung Kwok Chow-aside from being my current Sifu
I belive his approach is very realistic. I also like his method of teaching and the amount of detail he goes into when he explains things.
Augustine Fong-His level of skill is very good and his approach to spreading the art is exceptional. I view him as a true gentleman.
There are plenty of people who could be considered better fighter, with the exception of Sum Nung, perhaps. But this three top my list as not only highly skilled but also very good role models as well. But this is only my opinion.
Peace,
Dave

I dont knowenough to tell you about 3 guys…i can only speak of one…
TSUI SHEUNG TIN~The man is great. The man really knows what he is doing and his skill is incredible…
IXIJoe KaveyIXI
I am Sharky’s main man…
Same as you I guess
Hi Lotus Kick,
Last time I checked I was living on Earth but I could be misplaced ![]()
I don’t expect everyone to agree with my choices I would not be surprised if some people named Emin Bozepe and Rick Spain. I even know a few that would say Joe Grepo is very good and I would not disagree with any of those choices. But, I think that there is more to being a good Wing Chun teacher than just being a good fighter. I think that ones character is also important. For me the three I named are how I feel at the moment.
Peace,
Dave
BTW: Who are your choices and why. Also why would you disagree with mine, if you do?
I would also agree that Martial Joe made a good choice. LOL

Rick Spain (my teacher) can teach as well as fight.
I can’t say who are the best having only trained with a limited number of Aussie instructors, but I have no need to change instructors or look elsewhere.
Dumb Q really, it’s so much a matter of personal experience and choice.
EB seems to have enough loyal students (even excluding Kungar)
that he’d have to be on some people’s lists for sure.
Awesome Sifu
The best Wing Chun I have seen comes out of Sifu Steve Cottrell (Ft. Worth, TX). Along with being a gifted thinker and scholar (he speaks at least two dialects of Chinese and teaches them) Cottrell Sifu is perhaps one of the most thorough, traditional and knowledgeable martial artists I have come across. If TX is out of the question you can find kwoons similar to his at www.authentickungfu.com, This website lists a number of schools which share the qualities I have mentioned above. If that is out of the question he also has a series of tapes called Wing chun for Combat. They are very good, but they are study aides and not to be replaced with hands on instruction.
foolish question
The answer depends upon your skill level and what you have been exposed to.
Tsu Shueng Tin is highly regarded by everyone that has trained or touched hands with him.Clearly one of the best in the world.Sum Nung the same.I will say that if you are near L.A. you have some excellent choices. New York as well.
As my first Sifu said when I complained about the poor WC choice available after I moved. Some WC is better than no WC.
I would say Emin Boztepe ranks in my top list. My personal experience with him is that he is now as good a teacher as he is a fighter and that he is an outstanding person, too. I can’t speak about transgressions in the distant past, but only my experiences with him in the past 5 years or so.
Growing, age, etc. has definitely shaped his outlook on life.
clarification…
teachers or practitioners…
hmmm
Kenneth Chung
Eddie Chong
Augustine Fong
