Judging from some of your previous posts about the film industry, here’s a quote to get your blood boiling. It is from a newspaper article about how Star Wars Episode III is about to start shooting:
After shooting in 40 countries in 13 years, the producer of the last three Star Wars films [Rick McCallum] said Sydney was the easiest place in the world to make a film, partly because of the strong acting and film-making talent.
“There’s no bull****, no problems, everybody is so enthusiastic and not at all litigious.”
I thought they had already started shooting. Man, gotta wait even longer now.
Serp, you and me should see if we can get bit-parts as storm troopers or something. That would be a blast. Actually, I know someone who will probably be doing the lighting work for that movie. Maybe I should give him a call
On another topic, I met a guy who was one of the central stunt crew for LOTR. Lucky bugger got the luckiest break I have ever heard of to get into that. It was interesting talking to him about his experiences on the set.
Well when ya stop to think about it joedoe, Lucas said he didnt start writing Episode 1 until 1994. It came out in 1999. It didnt show that many years of work either.
I think he wrote all 3 at once. I doubt he really wrote each movie like he said, after TPM came out he said he was still writing AotC, which I doubt cause if he died, then who’d of written it? I think he was just editing it.
I still cringe at thinking what he’s gonna do for EP3, but can’t wait 2 more years.
I dunno. I mean, EPI & II were let downs only because they are in the context of the Star Wars series. In and of themselves, they actually weren’t bad movies. It’s just when you put them against the original trilogy they kind of pale in comparison.
I agree though, I am sure Lucas had written the whole lot a while ago and is only tweaking the story (maybe to maximise his marketing pull? :D).
Sorry to say this man, but I think Episode 2 was one of the better Star Wars movies. It did what it was supposed to do, create and show the love that grows (as well as other things) between Anakin and Padme.
That and I can relate to Anakin in the movie. Maybe I’m prejudice because of it. Like the Hulk movie.

Dang it guys!! You had to at least like the fight scene with Darth Maul. That was so far superior to what we saw in the first 3 movies. And don’t get me started on Yoda in combat. Whew!! Something I wanted to see since first seeing Star Wars.
I just hope Jar Jar has a bigger part in episode 3. Hehe. Just threw that out to get your blood boiling. I really had no problem with his character.
As the head Star Wars afficionado (read geek) on this forum, I’ll give you fellas some things to watch out for.
The Great Plaid One (Lucas) has always said EPIII would be the darkest of the series, as many, many, many people have to die. That means, there should be as little of Jar-Jar as possible, or at least, he may die on screen.
Chewie is in EP III. Nuff said.
3)EPIII will tie the original trilogy with the new one. All the talk about Midi-Chlorians is bunk, as Yoda began to discover in EP II when Anakin’s rage popped Qui-Gon’s spirit out of the Force. Up until this time, Jedi believe all people are dead when they die, and that the Force is a living thing (ala Midchlorians). When he hears Qui-Gon’s ghost in EPII, Yoda begins to think otherwise.
The arrogance of the Jedi is their downfall. They have lost their connection to the Force because they have become too dependent on Science and machines. Yoda warned Obi-Wan about this in EP II when they were discussing Anakin’s arrogance.
The death of Jango Fett means the CLoners no longer have the source material to work with. That means Stormtroopers will be cloned, and re-cloned, which is why they can’t hit the side of a barn with a laser blast in the later movies. Their DNA is all messy.
Starting in November, The Cartoon Network will start airing short CLONE WARS cartoons that will tie EP II to EP III, and will introduce a new Bounty Hunter named DURGE. DURGE hates Manalorians, of which Jango and Boba Fett are related (and therefore the clones), so his goal in life is to kill as many Mandalorians as possible. Boba Fett will eventually kill DURGE, and wear his logo on his armor (the cow skull on Boba’s left shoulder).

Have you read the fan script posted on theforce.net? Pretty good stuff. I hope Lucas takes some cues from this script in EpIII.
As for the lightsaber battles my favorite is still ESB. Brutal and ferocious with DV playing with Luke at first and then demolishing him at the end. Nice.
TPM’s scene is cool too. The more I watch ATC’s the more disappointed I am. Yoda was cool at first because of its novelty, but too short and it felt way too choreographed.
I thought the TFN script was kinda hokey, personally. Especially Padme’s dialogue.
The fight scene with Yoda was orginally twice as long, and Dooku had to resort to using 2 lightsabers to counter Yoda’s skill. They cut it down for reasons I’ll never understand.
I was also disappointed that in EP II they cut out the Droid Control Ship battle, which happened concurrently with the Arena Conflict. Aayla Secura, Plo Kloon, and Ki-Adi Mundi led an attack on the driod control ship, which is why the driods stopped attacking briefly in the Arena. They battle was shot, but the effects were never finished. If you watch closley, you will see them escorted in the Jedi circle during Dooku’s speach, right before the Clones come in to save the day.
Vader has always been my favorite, since I saw Star Wars when I was 5. His one-handed lightsaber stance is the coolest.
Dialogue is a major problem with Lucas recently. They could have implied so much more between Anakin and Padme without us suffering through that horrendous dialogue. This would have left more time for the scenes we talked about. I hope EPIII is as dark as Lucas says it will be.
true that. But at least in the DVD, he cut their scenes down a little. I especially appreciate the fact that he cut down the whole “Sound of Music” fiasco, and removed the last few moments of that scene where Padme pulls away for the ump-teenth time.
He also added some blast effects to Jango’s rocketpack right before Mace lops his head off, which makes more sense. I always wondered why Jango didn’t just fly off, but the new effects ,ake it clear that Jango’s jetpack is busted from getting head-butted by the Rhino thing.
Another litttle tid-bit to watch out for on the DVD is that Padme grabs Anakin’s robot hand during the wedding. In the theatrical version, she didn’t touch him, which always seemed awkard.

absolutely. I’ve always wanted to see guest directors for the new trilogy. I could imagine Speilberg directing EP1 since he’s good with the kid stuff. I though about Ang Lee with EPII since he mixed the action and romance beautifully in CTHD (but after Hulk I’m not as sold) and someone like David Fincher or Darren Aronskovski (sp) for EPIII b/c it needs to be dark and gritty. Who would you have chosen?
