I say give the reigns back to Lawrence Kasdan. He wrote ESB, and has proven himself as a decent director.

LK should write the screenplay but I’d like to see some different directors take a crack at SW. Kevin Smith would love to do that, but I don’t know how I feel and phallic lightsaber jokes.

Kevin Smith doesn’t have the experience to handle something like a Star Wars film. His direction is heavy-handed, just like his writing. I like some of his stuff, but he’s still got a lot to learn about the basics of making movies.

You’re right. I’m just saying that someone should direct these films that either loves the material or has the style to really bring it to life. Lucas has neither. He has lost the love. Don’t you feel like these films are almost obligatory. He feels obligated to finish these films. It seems they are more about his new digital cameras and false environments then about dialogue, action, emotion or story telling. For Lucas, it seems, the effects have become an end to themselves and not a means to an end. All technical mumbo jumbo and no heart makes movies with great potential a little dull.

I would argue this has always been the case, he just had people around him that would question his bad decisions. When he started filming TPM, everyone forgot about how other people had written and directed ESB and ROTJ, and Lucas had reached God-like status amongst the uber-Geeks. I think he started to believe the hype, and no one would question him because he’s Geroge Lucas, afterall.
He had intense fights with Kershner on the set of ESB, and even told him once, “It doesn’t have to be as good as you want to make it.”
Anyone remember Howard the Duck? That was Lucas’ first movie after ROTJ…
You guys used sooo many abbreviations on this thread… Im so very confused now…

The Great Plaid One (Lucas) has always said EPIII would be the darkest of the series, as many, many, many people have to die. That means, there should be as little of Jar-Jar as possible, or at least, he may die on screen.

Chewie is in EP III. Nuff said.
3)EPIII will tie the original trilogy with the new one. All the talk about Midi-Chlorians is bunk, as Yoda began to discover in EP II when Anakin’s rage popped Qui-Gon’s spirit out of the Force. Up until this time, Jedi believe all people are dead when they die, and that the Force is a living thing (ala Midchlorians). When he hears Qui-Gon’s ghost in EPII, Yoda begins to think otherwise.

The arrogance of the Jedi is their downfall. They have lost their connection to the Force because they have become too dependent on Science and machines. Yoda warned Obi-Wan about this in EP II when they were discussing Anakin’s arrogance.

The death of Jango Fett means the CLoners no longer have the source material to work with. That means Stormtroopers will be cloned, and re-cloned, which is why they can’t hit the side of a barn with a laser blast in the later movies. Their DNA is all messy.

Starting in November, The Cartoon Network will start airing short CLONE WARS cartoons that will tie EP II to EP III, and will introduce a new Bounty Hunter named DURGE. DURGE hates Manalorians, of which Jango and Boba Fett are related (and therefore the clones), so his goal in life is to kill as many Mandalorians as possible. Boba Fett will eventually kill DURGE, and wear his logo on his armor (the cow skull on Boba’s left shoulder). [/B]
Wow. I am going to have to go and watch the DVD again to pick up all those things.
