I am interested in peoples thoughts on claiming lineage in the Northern Mantis Style .
What gives you your lineage ?
Do you come under the banner of your first teacher ?
If you train under another teacher from a different clan do you then come under their lineage and banner ?
How does it work ?
If for example you trained for ten years with one teacher and learnt a handful of sets but then left his organisation , and some years later sought out a teacher from another clan and started to learn from him . Are you showing disrespect to your original teacher ?
If your new teacher teaches you far more than your old teacher should you then come under his banner and lineage ?
Who do you belong to ?
Is it important to belong to anyone ?
What gives you your lineage ?
Your lineage is simple the family tree regarding the style you practice. So by being with a certain group would therefore constitute being a ‘part’ of that particular lineage.
Do you come under the banner of your first teacher ?
No I wouldn’t say that you do. If you have left a particular organisation for another then you cease to be a part of the previous. Although it is always honourable to state your history.
If you train under another teacher from a different clan do you then come under their lineage and banner ?
Yes. Although it would differ if you continue with your previous school aswell.

Not at all. Its your life, your money, your time…spend it as you want. It depends really on the situation, there is no right answer. If you were a closed door disciple then yea, of course it would be bad form to simply ‘p!ss off’.

Your repeating the same point…starting to sound TROLLISH.
Is it important to belong to anyone ?
Depends what you are looking for within your training. If its a sense of belonging, then yes, it is important.

Old Chinese saying said, “Tou Shi Bu Rou Fan You - looking for a teacher sometime will not be a good idea as looking for a good friend”.
A teacher will keep you for a long time and after you have paid enough tuition then he may teach you what you need to know. If you visit a good CMA friend then he can teach you all the forms that you need to know in a short period of time.
For example, if you are a Judo expert and your good friend is a TKD expert, then you can teach all your Judo knolwedge to him, and he can teacher all his TKD knowledge to you.
Who is the teacher and who is the student here?
I had to read it three time to figure it out b/c once a while you are slip in a joke and I didn’t want to misinterpret.
