It was common place to give kuen po to trusted students, but this doesn’t mean it was the full transmission. The documents serve as a repository of information for future generations. This is very wise considering how quickly things change from person to person.
The Family kuen po has very detailed information as to how the form (posture, transition, and direction) is to be performed as well as describing the proper energy. It shouldn’t be assumed that what Fred Spencer shows on his site or what Wong Doc Fai shows on his website is all there is to be seen.
Even having a piece of the manuscript and being able to translate the characters doesn’t mean you will be able to properly execute the material. Adequate knowledge and experience are necessary to decifer the material. Just because you can read a Calculus book doesn’t mean you can apply the math. This is why the transmission is from Sifu to student as opposed to a correspondence course using the documents.
