I have to admit it! When I look at those punching power threads,that we are like a bunch of old and constipated professors pointing at each others with their pipes,arguing about tiny differencies in our personnal comprehensions of things…One says the bag improves power…The other (Me…)says it improves the tools that at the end deliver power!..What matter is: At the end we have a result. Whatever our own personnal way to see it; we have a powerfull punch in our arsenal!
We all work at alignment and technique and…We all work at the wallbag!..We also all like to cut hairs in halves!

Well old jong, I believe you may be a bit miffed at those threads…however remember I said that sandbag training does help train Power. I didn’t say that it develops power. I chose my words carefully, and strategically. I guess you didn’t pick up on it. Sorry!!!
Power is something that you can train, but very difficult to develop. Since power is a derivative of mass and acceleration. Usually, due to mega tension, many people hinder their power. Many people mistake things by saying you can develop power, the main way you can do that is by simply increasing your mass. But to utilize more power one needs to train to relax, so that tension does not hinder your acceleration.

But…In Wing Chun, smoke in the eyes is a lot more dangerous!..
Is that why we like to chi sau blindfolded?..
Take away smoke and mirrors and some will be left helpless!
Some may even use enlarging mirrors!..The point is: We have a great system in our “Hands” and we turn it into some “words chi sau” or something! How can, the beginner or the wing chun prospect who read this forum for the first time, take all this arguing and the art seriously?..I can tell that ,if I was a mere beginner,I would be tempted to look elsewhere,in other arts where they at least agree on basic things like punching power generation.

i have to agree with alpha dog.
i have only been in WC for 2 weeks, so i would say im pretty much brand new. it seems that sometimes there is very little unity among us. I wish some historical questions didnt make so many people angry. if noone questioned reality, we would still think the world was flat 
I was fortunuate with my first question though. i only got one warning to be careful where i poke my nose. as for other arts…no way! i have a feeling i am going to like where this adventure takes me.

I must be nuts doing a hard style of TKD. I come home every night with bloody knuckles, limping, bruises, ribs that move in ways they shouldn’t be moving while you guys get to sit back in leather chairs, discuss techniques while having a nice glass of brandy.
