This is what I worship:

i just dont fall for the religious trappings of any religion, i think mainly thats due to my upbringing.
i cant just all of a sudden ahve a faith in some god i never believed in before. i dont work like that.
its all philosophy and life lessons for me.
here for some perspective on general native beliefs.
“Native American isnt blood; it is what is in the heart. The love for the land. The respect for it, those who inhabit it; and the respect and acknowledgement of the spirits and the elders. That is what it is to be indian.”
White Feather
Navajo Medicine Man
“The Indian loved to worship. From birth to death, he revered his surroundings. He considered himself born in the luxurious lap of Mother Earth, and no place was to him humble. There was nothing between him and the Big Holy (Wakan Tanka). The contact was immediate and personal, and the blessings of Wakan Tanka flowed over the Indian like rain showered from the sky. Wakan Tanka was not aloof, apart, and ever seeking to quell evil forces. He did not punish the animals and the birds, and likewise, he did not punish man. He was not a punishing god. For there was never a question as to the supremacy of an evil power over and above the power of Good. There was but one ruling power, and that was Good.”
-Chief Luther Standing Bear -
Teton Sioux, Born 1868
The old people came literally to love the soil, and they sat or reclined on the ground with a feeling of being close to a mothering power. It was good for the skin to touch the earth, and the old people liked to remove their moccasins and walk with bare feet on the sacred earth.
Their tipis were built upon the earth and their altars were made of earth. The birds that flew in the air came to rest upon the earth, and it was the final abiding place of all things that lived and grew.
The soul was soothing, strengthening, cleansing, and healing. This is why the old Indian still sits upon the earth instead of propping himself up and away from its life-giving forces. For him, to sit or lie upon the ground is to be able to think more deeply and to feel more keenly.
He can see more clearly into the mysteries of life and come closer in kinship to other lives about him.
religious taoism believes we all came from the corpse of a 10 thousand foot giant called pangu who came from a giant egg
native american tree hugging sounds fantastic. did you read about the mohawk warriors where they would slowly skin their victims alive and cut off all their fingers while keeping them alive for several days?
or the inuit creation myth where a father tried to throw his daughter off a boat and as she cling on he cuts off her fingers one by one and her fingers turn into the polar bear and seals? its magical

thats part of the reason i dont atatch myself to religious aspects of belief systems.
spirituality and philosophy is what make sense to me.
i dont believe in adam and eve any more than i believe japan was created by the falling drops of ocean water from a gods spear tip. i just dont.
BUT, all of these religions have valuable assets to them other than the religious aspects of gods and after lives.

dont forget tribes that performed human sacrifice! ![]()
tree hugging is pretty universal lol
check out many rights of passage to manhood among a lot of the tribes. CRAZY stuff.
for me because i dont believe in their religion, i dont dabble in them out of respect for their beliefs
there is a western habit of dabbling in something very serious and sacred from other cultures for fun and hobby and not taking them seriously
here is something that i do live by and believe in, still not religion though. ![]()
The Teaching of Tecumseh
Live your life that the fear of death
can never enter your heart.
Trouble no one about his religion.
Respect others in their views
and demand that they respect yours.
Love your life, perfect your life,
beautify all things in your life.
Seek to make your life long
and of service to your people.
Prepare a noble death song for the day
when you go over the great divide.
Always give a word or sign of salute when meeting
or passing a friend, or even a stranger,if in a lonely place
Show respect to all people, but grovel to none.
When you rise in the morning, give thanks for the light,
for your life, for your strength.
Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living.
If you see no reason to give thanks,
the fault lies in yourself.
Touch not the poisonous firewater that makes wise ones turn to fools
and robs the spirit of its vision.
When your time comes to die, be not like those
whose hearts are filled with fear of death,
so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again
in a different way.
Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.
in school i learned about culture from inside and outsider views.
if u dont partake in a culture fully u will always have a distorted outsider view. what u learned from them will be what they want to show you, how they want to present themselves. not what they truly are.
once again my opinion is the western habit of dabbling into the sacred and serious nonchalantly is a grave insult.
ive seen kung fu schools of wite ppls and abcs bowing to guan yu and yue fei idols but never heard them sing the traditional “lets drink the blood and eat the flesh of the barbarians” song called the river of blood
educating yourself about others beliefs in a place where you are surrounded by all belief systems is a way of not remaining ignorant.
i cant even remember how many times ive seen people offend others just out of sheer ignorance because they dont understand what that person believes.
i see it the same with culture. how many americans think muslims are evil just because they are ignorant to the truth. far too many. in fact the way muslims prepare their animals for food is far more humane than almost any other culture on earth, but most people just dont take the time to learn.
universal truth is not confined to religion, religion simply attaches itself to the truth because it cannot be refuted. to seek truth from the various founts of human kind is simply seeking the truth.
i think its retarded to practice something you dont believe in and understand 100%
i would never bow down to an idol, because i cant.

As for Shaolin disciple vows, they add a baisee and bows to the master, just like any martial disciple vows.
