WSL and TST and others

http://gongsau.isportsdot.com/

I can’t play any of these on my PC at work… maybe you guys can. Have no idea if the footage is good or not.

Have a look.

If you right click then save target as, you should can play the downloaded file in mediaplayer.

Have sent the WSL one to my instructor. It looks like him, but I cant say for sure.

Re: the WSL one. The fact that it is in widescreen and filmed on what appears to be a movie set indicates it might have been filmed on the Game Of Death set. Wong helped out Bruce with some of the choreography on that film.

I think this is more mucking about than anything else, particularly as Wong bounces around a bit, something he never taught or practiced, and blatantly allows himself to be “knocked out” at the end of the clip.

But, it shows some nice direct hitting, and examples of constant forward pressure to overwhelm the opponent.

hi frank
i don’t know about you but after knowing how wong felt about what they did at the start of his ‘science of infighting’ video i can only imagine how he would have felt about those unbelievably realistic sound affects.
i’m also surprised we haven’t heard people saying that they have actual footage of gong sao wong being beaten:rolleyes:
maybe that’s the fight with the SPM guy he’s supposed to have lost according to the laughable gossip i have heard on the net since his untimely passing.
vts

That segment in the beginning of ‘‘Science of infighting’’ is totally ridiculous.

Maybe we were supposed to laugh at the old men, but I actually found the clips quite enjoyable. So, are there better ones out there?

Science of Infighting

LOL, but doesn’t that 1970s p0rn music throughout the video help redeem the shortcomings of the opening segment?

OK, without any sarcasm, I have to say Science of In-Fighting is the absolute best video explaining basic Wing Chun that I have ever seen. I wonder did WSL actually do any of the content for the other forms as mentioned a the end of the tape?

darnit. i try to download them, and all i get is a geocities page with a bunch of chinese on it, of which i understand NONE. is there a mirror for this, or does anyone else know the error?

WSL looks much “harder” than I would have expected. It’s the first time I’ve ever seen clips of him.

The Wong Shun Leung Footage

This is great! The footage of him sparring is on the set of Enter the Dragon. Bruce Lee himself is filming Wong Sparring. with Bruce Lee’s butler.

The only other footage I’ve seen of this was in Black and White with Wong sparring with one of his own students, followed by the playing we see in this footage with Bruce Lee’s butler (or manservant) Wu Ngan (sp).

The final punch setup is Wong demonstrating a “reaction” shot to a fake hit thrown by Bruce as he steps from behind the camera. It is not that clear in this version that it is bruce as it is in the Black and white footage. But this footage is much cleaner and in color too! Woo hoo!

Some of you might remember that Bruce wanted Wong to represent a Wing Chun floor (for the Game of Death). Wong demurred saying he thought that Wing Chun would not translate well to a movie. Bruce was then going to have Taky Kimura play a Mantis stylist–but Taky really didn’t want to do so either.

Has anyone here ever touched hands with TST?

This is funny…every one of them works for me except the WSW ones.

You need to right-click on the image for the video you’re interested in and make sure that you use “Save Target as…”. If you “Save as…” from the browser menu, you’ll save the HTML, which isn’t what you want.

Matrix

P.S. some files would not download. I only received error messages.

Sparring??

I just noticed a newer video on the page, entitled “Sparring”. Did anyone else view it? What’s up with that ?

Wing Chun vs Northern Mantis

That sparring clip was a roof-top fight between Wu Chen Nam (early student of WSL) and a Northern Mantis guy.

WSL’s student looked pretty good on the rooftop. What was good about it was that he used the basic Wing Chun footwork. I’ll have to watch that one a few times. Also, notice how WSL does the original Tan - Jum - hseun - side palm part as an additional section of the form, then the modified version with gan sao? When I was taught William Chueng’s “Advanced SLT” he included that original section and it looked just like WSL did it. Yet these were supposedely “secret section” moves, at least according to my TWC teacher.

BTW, if you wait long enough, and go to the site repeatedly, you’ll eventually download all of the videos.

Can some one instant message me and send me the files of WSL?
His dont work for me.

I have watched that rooftop fight about 20 times already.
Its cool. I like how hes very agressive.

I post a thread with clips and can’t watch them at work.

I email the web address to my home account, get home and my internet link is down.

F*ck!!!

vingtsunstudent/planetwc

I dont know, I kind of like the sound effects…

The geek part of me is able to tell you that they were created using the bass drum and snare drum sounds on the Roland 808 drum machine. The wing chun part of me tells me to shut up and not be so boring.

Yep, like you I was also waiting for the “wong got beat up” comments.

Thanks to planetwc for posting the context of the clips.
I thought that wongs opponent looked a little Bruce Lee-like, so it was his butler, huh? Interesting.

Hey, vingtsunstudent, are you going to HK in November? We are going about the 3rd or so.

hi frank
unfortunately being a family man i have no money for anything like that anymore, i also have a problem with large pieces of metal in the air, oh well, such is life:confused:
it really is terrible being scared of no man but having a phobia about flying.
i don’t even know if bill is going this year as he has just opened a new school which has drained all his money but i will ask him and let you know. i do think he is in regular contact with buick over there and i think him and a few other are getting into exporting crocodile meat to hong kong of all things.
are you going for the opening of the wc thing in china?
good training to you my distant kung fu brother
