Working the staff! ;)

I really like working with my staff.

Currently, I know one staff form.

Here it is: http://www.mccarriedesign.com/staff_form.mov

I don’t have a sifu to teach me another staff form. I know that I could continue to work the staff form I have but I’d really like to learn something new.

I’m considering learning a new staff form from video.

Here’s what I’ve found:
WLE Monkey King Staff: http://www.wle.com/products/VHG04D.html

Dr. Yang, Jwing Ming Taji & Shaolin Staff: http://www.ymaa.com/publishing/video/external/taiji_shaolin_staff2

Martial Arts Mart - Shaolin Wind Demon Staff: http://www.martialartsmart.net/tckprgs210.html

Any thoughts on any of these? I’m leaning towards the WingLam form right now.

Thanks for your input.

get the martial arts mart one and support the **** forum you freeloader.

i agree with supporting the forum but the winglam one is probably pretty good. i have seen some of his BSL hand set instructional videos and they were pretty well done. as far as i could tell.

The quality of this set is really good. I had the lian huan quan one years ago. Traditional, simple, and direct.

I guess I should support the cause. That Winglam one looks pretty good though.

Does anyone have the Wind Demon Staff video? Can I get a review?

why don’t you take up dung fu.

kinda ot
I used to work in a neighborhood with a couple vietnamese grocery stores and there was this guy that worked at one of them, whose name happened to be Dung. He’s vietnamese, so, okay enough, right? He displayed his name everywhere, custom liscense plate, tee shirt, name tag. I wonder if he knows…

I like the video!

That one! Duh!

Ok, ok, I ordered it. I took your advice and I supported the cause.

Once I get it, I’ll post a review of the video and eventually I’ll post a video of me doing it.

ha ha fooled you I’m really Gene Ching in disguise:eek:

jk

the series seemed pretty good to me.

Sorry, I meant the one that I assume is the one in which you are doing the form…maybe I am wrong.

Oh, I’m sorry man. I thought you were talking about one of the videos I was asking about. My bad.

And yep, that’s me doing the form. Not perfect but I feel pretty good with it. It’s by far, my favorite form.

I know two weapon forms. Staff and Butterfly knives. I enjoy both of them for quite a few reasons. The staff mainly because I usually only practice it in the summer and it has a nice flow to it and is not as confusing as the Butterfly knives!

This is the staff set that we do in Toisan Black Tiger. One thing I really like in particular is the ambidextrousness of the set as identical techniques are performed on either side.

d@mn chief i wish you lived near me, i would trade staff forms with you. :frowning:

Yeah, I wouldn’t mind trading staff forms either Chief Fox.

I ordered the staff from martialartsmart.net as well – never did commit to learning the whole form but it gave me some new patterns to work out and I was satisfied with it… probably something I will go back to at some point. I also have the broadsword, spear, and 3 sectional staff DVD’s from there – all of them are quality in my opinion – I’m currently working on my spear and 3 sectional staff (and throwing in a lil chain whip too). Keep up the good work, glad to see you are enjoying it.

thumbs up chief - thats a really nice form

lmao I half expected to hear ‘twisted sister’, even turned my amp on for it

craig

ps: I know Jochen has some vids somewhere on youtube of ‘capture the tiger sheep staff’…oh and check israel flores website…thats a nice staff set
