When the metacarpophalangeal joints are in extension or slight flexion passive abduction/aduction and rotation allow the hand to adapt itself to grasp a variety of shapes. When these joints are in a more flexed position they become less flexible but also more stable, which is helpful for feats requiring strength or force. ROM for active flexion is limited by contact between the bodies of the contracting muscles ROM for passive flexion is greater since the flexor muscles are relaxed and more easily compressed.

The only way to trully learn is the discover the mistakes in “the right way”.
Whipping Hand may be a very nice person, he could be an absolute angel in real life, we have no way of knowing. All we have are his posts here on this board to judge him by.
His posts were deliberately obtuse, condescending, and often rude.
When challenged on points he made, he never entered into a discussion.
This is a discussion board, and if people are not prepared to discuss the subjects, they should not be posting.
If he has indeed been banned, I, for one, will not miss him.

Whippinghand’s banning
This is the way it works here at the office of Kungfu Qigong, your hosts for this forum. Like most of you, we all come into work ready to do our jobs. One of those jobs is checking our various email accounts and this here forum. In that email is a lot of business, after all, we are a business. Also in that email are the complaints we get from the forum. This includes private emails, the emails that are sent when you click “report this post to a moderator” and private messages. Even the lurkers complain and while they may not participate actively in this forum, they are just as must a part of our readership, so we listen. We listen to a lot around here. That’s a big part of our job. Most days are pretty good - no complaints. Some days we get a lot, so much so that it can impede with our publishing work. When it gets that bad, we generally opt to ban someone.
Before we banned whippinghand, we were getting dozens of complaints on a daily basis. It was way too many for us not to act.
For what it’s worth, all it takes to ban someone is the flick of an adminstrative switch. All it takes to ‘unban’ someone is a flick back. If whippinghand wishes to plead his case directly, we’re listening, as always. If the rest of you want to plead his case, you should seriously consider how much energy you’re putting into an internet forum. After all, it’s not you that was banned, at least not yet 
Training the weakest link
After reading Gene’s post, I would like to say that I find it laughable that so many people actually take the time to complain about one person.
Excuse me if I am offending any delicate sensibilities, but can’t you just ignore someone if you don’t like what they have to say? Do you people really take the off-the-cuff comments of an individual so personally that you can’t bear the sight of another post?
Let me just say this, as my humblest of opinions: going into a combat situation with an ego problem is a definite weakness that any opponent could readily exploit. You train your body, what about your pride? Is that your weakest link?
I am not for deliberately insulting people. But, I recognize that only sticks and stones really hurt.

Thanks Gene for posting here to explain the situation. It’s a tough job to deal with all of these types of issues.
Having said that I have to agree with Alpha Dog. I don’t know why people need to complain to the authorities. I believe that there is a feature in the Control Panel that will allow you to set up an “Ignore List” so that the postings of people that you find offensive are automatically filtered out. Now I haven’t tried it before, so maybe someone can comment on it’s effectiveness.
By the way, I was not a fan of Whipping Hand, but for some odd reason I kinda miss him.

This is more of a bulletin board rather thana closed mailing list which would send messages to your inbox. It is easy to filter out the posts of people you dont want and by pass entire threads.
Two things- the hidden complaints to administration of a bulletin board show the lack of self assurance of atleast some of the complainers. Further, I have already commented on the lack of even handedness in the moderation. Also, the recent deletion of the poll which showed the majority support for not banning is also in my opinion poor moderation. If the subsequent discussion between two individuals got a bit much for a bulletin board- the exchanges could have been removed without removing the poll results which BTW did not show majority support for the moderators action as once claimed by one moderator.. Lots of things I may not like about some posts- I dont have to read some posters, I can block their posts myself and they dont come into my email inbox. And whether to even check the bulletin board or not is an individual decision. Big difference between a bulletin board or kiosk and a closed mailing list. The latter usually has
tighter conditions of membership including rules against anonymity, cross posting, trolling and spamming. C ya later.
