I’m not sure if this question was directed at me. If not I apologize. Anyway, mostly Yip Man linage since around 1970. Moy Yat, Duncan Leung/Alan Lee, Lee Moy Shan, Henry Leung, and now William Cheung. I have heard some say that Ng Mui saw a fight between a Snake and a Crane, and some say it was a fight between a Crane and a Fox. I’m not going to get into the Yim Wing Chun, Ng Mui controversy because I really don’t know the real history. Some are saying that history was made up. I just don’t know. I can only tell you guys what was taught to me. I’m still learning after almost 32 years in WC. I can even learn from you guys.

I have actually heard and read about Ng Mui watching a fight between a Fox and Crane many times. Even before I learned it from Sifu Cheung. Where it came from I don’t know, in fact, that might be the way the Ng Mui sifu in NY tells the story. Where it came from I don’t know. I still might have a book that says it. When I get back from the ‘Great White North’, I’ll look for it.

Far as I recall, it was in a Chinese pulp novel (Mo Hop) which spread among the Kwang Tung people. You can find both the Snake/Crane and the Snake/Fox, though the former I think is more common (picked up and spread in later pulp novels and articles).
I believe there’s something almost identical to the Saam Pai Fut of Tan, Fook, and Wu in the core Jee Shim set as well, which is the system supposedly practiced by the Red Junk before Wing Chun (at least by Wong Wah-Bo and Dai Fa Min Kam) and in Leung Jan’s Gulao teachings, he used the term “Fook Fu” for the high/low Gaun-like Sik, so there are some tiger references through his line as well.

LOL! Hardly! As you know, the character for Fook is composed of the radical for Man and the phonetic for Dog. So you nailed it from the get go. 8)

Hi - can yuo tell me how you make your fuk sau? Do you have tension in the forarm? (bringing the palm closer to forearm, if you get me)

BTW - i’ve learnt the form with and without tension in the forearm - from differening teachers.
