Incase anyone has not seen it, here is actual video of the Iran small gunboats buzzing the USS Hooper. Talk about a bad move on Iran’s part, these ships have been in escort service out in those international waters for a long time, why they have their panties in a bunch now…![]()
Why the U.S. has it’s undies in a bunch or why Iran does? I don’t think that had anything to do with the ships that were involved and everything to do with U.s. policy about Iran and thier Nucular/Nuclear program. As i is it for energy or maybe also weapons.
The Bush administration is still looking for a way to start a war with Iran now that Iraq is winding down and the rest of the region is bumping hip to what an odd thing it is to have all these occupational forces running around doing whatever it is they are doing.
In truth, Iran doesn’t have speedboats off the coast of the us and in fact, it doesn’t have a boat anywhere near the US.
who is really the offender of sovereignty here?
Near as I can tell, the Straight of Hormuz is near Iranian waters and not anywhere near any territory that the US can remotely claim as their own. In fact, the US is so far from home there I am laughing at them attempting to make it seem like Iran is the bad guy here. Clearly they (the US mil and gov) is attempting to stir up trouble and when iran sinks a destroyer or something, they will get all crocodile tears and what not about it. Black Flag BS is what that is.
I watched that and was waiting to see a Kung-Fu chop:mad:
First off, the warships are in International Waters, which means right or wrong about where these waters lay its still an open area. Plus, you just don’t got antagonizing a war vessel.
People on these ships mean serious business, even more so after the USS Cole, and will use deadly force to protect themselves. Plus when you don’t make radio contact it begins to get some people’s hackles up a tad I would imagine:cool:
I wonder if those little speed boats knew how close they came to getting trashed that day…?
And here’s an investigative piece that suggests it was a hoax:
Of course they did… This is a game of “How much can we annoy the U.S> before someone makes a mistake.” They don’t have to worry; the U.S. is labled as being in the wrong for everything, They could probably actually start firing at a U.S. war vessel in international waters and some Cnadian will claim it’s all the our fault for existing…
I think it’s understandable that any nation would feel threatened if a country routinely talked about invading it and had a whole whack of war ships in water off their coast.
Imagine if Iran had a bunch of war ships off the coast of Florida and was routinely suggesting that if the US doesn’t stop its WMD production, or at least allow weapons inspectors in, they would invade.
I think it is quite apparent there are still a great many americans who are incapable of rational thought and the ability to put themselves in anothers shoes.
Of course the provocation is by US forces. As for international waters, what’s wrong with having a speed boat running around in same international waters. as if a v-hull is going to do anything to a massive warship.
It’s ridiculous.
something like watching a bear swat at a mosquito and trying to solicit sympathy for the bear.
ridiculous.

Here are some pics of what little boats can actually do.

Second, these little boats suggested a clear threat of violence with the translated Iran message about sinking the U.S. Ships, so whatever…lol
I still dont understand the US mindset of;
We can have nukes, but we dont think anyone else should be allowed, and we want full access to their information and stocks…

Yes, because WE are safer that way. I sleep better knowing the rest of the world is afraid to mess with us.
Defense is about allways keeping the upper hand to your opponent. You never want to fight on even ground. Allways pit your strength against thier weakness. Keep them off balance so they cannot draw on the strengths they do have.

..
Because we are one of the few nations that is stable enough to support such power.
Plus, why on earth would you not want us to be the one’s holding all the main cards,
I can never myself understand that type of mindset.

I never state such. You assumed.
The stability of our nation in regards to what? G. W. Bush? LOL…
talk about wallowing in hubris.
america is responsible?
gtfoh.
you make it sound like the whole earth is backwater and america is some kind of beacon of something.
america has it’s good points and it’s bad points like any other nation.
for the record, being economically powerful doesn’t equal any greatness beyond being able to better others in business deals. lol,. Often this comes in the form of the desperate being swindled.
lots of “stronger” countries do this to weaker ones.
you make it sound like the whole earth is backwater and america is some kind of beacon of something.
David, I never said we were the only one responsible enough to deal with that sort of power, I just said we are responsible enough to be measured by it and stay sane.
america is responsible?
Yes I do.
Vey much so and infact I would say because of it’s very nature and it’s multifaceted ability to do so much global destruction it is the most responsible nation on earth.
america has it’s good points and it’s bad points like any other nation.
I hundred percent agree but I think the good far outweighs the bad.
for the record, being economically powerful doesn’t equal any greatness beyond being able to better others in business deals.
I don’t think America is just great because of its economic ability but because of it’s founding ideals and the men who forged this nation.
Not to derail the conversation but there’s only one nation that has ever, in the history of our species, used nuclear weapons on another nation.
i think the USA has acted immorally and unethically many many times in it’s recent history post ww2 that it can’t be seen as responsible with power.
It has demonstrated that it is irresponsible with it’s power by strangleholding other nations at the market, chest puffing embargos on others, attacks on weakened nations, minimization of the international mechanisms of diplomatic functions and so on.
Not to mention it has huge problems in it’s own social fabric that it is not even attempting to make repairs on.
The last 8 years has blown the credibility of the US out of the water so to speak. The only people that listen are listening for the internal changes to occur or are in the pocket.
