Just thought I’d start a Haiku thread. Its a simple traditional Japanese form of poetry. The Haiku must consist of three lines, the first one has 5 syllables, the second - 7, and the third line has 5 again. Here is an example of a haiku you might remember from Fight Club:
worker bees can leave
even drones can fly away
the qeen is their slave
Here is a quick attempt by me:
Walking through the street
The men stop to fix their ties
All we are is dust
and another:
Writing this Haiku
Makes my naughty bits tingle
I know I am weird
You can call me ray
or you can call me jay
you can call me slim
or you can call me jim
you can call me buck
or you can call me chuck
you can call me marv
or you can call me harv
you can call me jack
or you can call me mack
you can call me …
geranium white
cloudy mist brings heart of red
and so, we have pink
wandering over
she comes to a sword in stone
but trusts in her hands
his mind in fragments
graceful fighter rides dragon.
which insiders scream?
robins know the dawn
touch of dew brings forth singing
at night, melodies
know of tears uncried
words unsaid except to wind
everywhere life speaks
no wind. no rain. oh
earth is ravaged and sterile
did the spaceship land
A very economical way to write and think. this was fun.
