I have a movie like this. Was a SB re-release. The english title given was Shaolin Super Soldier. There was a traveling martial artist who would carry a sign stating something to the effect that he had the cure for bad kung fu. And would defeat those he thought unworthy and force them to close down.
An old master, who assumedly was not that bad at kung fu, and also a good person, was defeated and forced to close his school. He had 3 pupils who then left. The old master thought he had been abandoned, but instead the pupils vowed to go elsewhere to aquire new kung fu skills and return in 2-3 yrs and reclaim the honor of their school and sifu. This sounds the same?
Nope that isnt the movie I am thinking of…As I rem, they were at least 3-4 pupils. I remember one was Crane,One was snake, one was Tiger, I cant rem the other.

the bad guy was a older guy with long silver(white hair) and a long goatee, he fought a few guys on his way to killing these pupils master…Man I wish I could rem this movie, it was awsome…

teh five animals of shaolin are:

Tiger/Leopard/Crane/Snake/Dragon

were these the names used? If so, I don’t know.

But if it was Lizard/scorpion etc, then it sounds like Five Deadly Venoms is teh flick you’re looking for and yeah, it’s a great Chop Sockey spectacular!

sounds like some shaolin disciples training to fight pai mei…

sounds kind of like Executioners From Shaolin to me…but its been years, i dont remember how many people trained for revenge in Executioners From Shaolin…

kind of a re occuring kungfu theme…shaolin vs pai mei that is.

hmm actually now that i think about it. that might not have been 5 students learning the 5 animals, it might have been one or maybe two guys training to revenge on pai mei..

good luck finding your movie.

The movie is called the Five Superfighters and was a Shaw Brothers movies with some lesser known stars one of which was Kara Hui Ying Hung’s brother.

Regarding the original poster it is definately not a Shaw Brothers movie as there was never one where there were 5 students taught 5 animal styles.
Some movies have “flashes” of “legit” kung fu moves from the styles they pretend to represent, Iron Monkey is a good example where Donnie Yen does some nice “tiger and crane” moves right out of the form.
You can’t really ask for much more than that in a movie.
