on the website of an italian hungga club. no idea about it’s authenticity.

Well thats the first pic i’ve seen that even claims to be wong fei hung, lol of course it could be some random guy, but ill give it the benefit of the doubt and believe it is him.

We only have this statue to compare similarities to -

Its a shame if it is, I really dont see why there are no pictures of him… was he camera shy?..lol
or like I said before where any pictures destroyed…

Actually, that picture is of his fourth son. If you go on hungga.net, they also have a picture of Wong Sifu’s tenth son who is said to look just like his dad. All of his pictures were supposedly destroyed when his house burned down.

:frowning: Are you reffering to the burning of his house/school which was shown in the movies? Particularly Once upon a time in china

I’m not exactly sure if that is the same burning incident that they are depicting in the movie. Actually, I have only seen the first three so I’m not sure if that is in one of the sequels that I have yet to see. Do you know which sequel you are referring to? Nonetheless, according to some historical data his home/medicine practice which was called Po Chi Lam, was burned to the ground. All of his photos were said to be destroyed in this fire.

I was talking about the 1st one…i guess its not the one as it was only mildly damaged in this one

Ah, I see. Funny thing. I have only seen the first OUATIC two times and I still barely remember it. I’d better pick it up. I have always been interested in seeing the actual face behind the legend, myself. However, it appears that statues and sketchings are as close as we are gonna’ get.

tis’ a shame, we are left to form our own mental pictures of him.
perhaps its better this way…?

Just makes him more of a legend, I guess. The fact that no one has a picture of him almost makes it seem as if he was a mythological hero. Kind of cool when you think of it, hey?

The pic was translated at fu-ragz! Here it is.

This is the most common pic that is floating around. Many have said that it is indeed WFH, but it was floating around a while back and its a photo of WFH’s tenth son. If you compare it with the birthday celebration pic it is the exact same guy. Apparently this photo is becoming more and more common since its actually being circulated AS WFH. If i’m not mistaken, even the WFH museum is now saying its WFH. Although when they first opened they purported that there were no photos of WFH.

This picture can also be found in one of Leung Ting’s books on Wing Chun. If i’m not mistaken, he’s the first one that actually came out with the photo and said that Mok Gwai Lan (WFH’s fourth wife) gave it to him.

Now one of the funny things is that one of Mok Gwai Lan’s students runs the WFH Museum and when they first opened they had no photos of WFH. If Mok gave the picture to Leung Ting (who has no connection to Hung Gar) why didn’t her own student have it?

One of the reasons thats said to give light to the picture issue is that during the Canton Riots, Po Chi Lam was destroyed and most of WFH’s belongings were burned.

Peace
