I just wanted to remind everyone that we are in the process of planning for a gathering in New York City. Central Park has been suggested as the location. The date looks to be July 20th and the time would be around noon.
This is an informal get together more for establishing friednships than anything else. While it is certainly beneficial to compare different methods of doiing things, there will be no pressure to exchange techniques if one does not wish to.
I would ask anyone interested in attending to contact me via e-mail just so I have an idea of how many would like to come. If you wish to participate more activley, such as doing a demonstration of your particular method then please let me know that as well.

There may be such a thing in the LA area in early August timeframe. At least some of our folks are thinking about coming down for a BBQ in the monterey park area of LA.
There is some interest in doing this so the plan is to move forward and make it happen. I have asked some of our New York City members to locate the perfect spot in Central Park for this to happen. As soon as a definite location is decided upon I will be posting it here.
The last gethering was not too bad and this one will be totally free of any “affialiation” to school or lineage. Thus, everyone can feel comfortable with attending. I know that some were hesitant about attending any location with any affiliations. Well, here is the chance to come out, meet others and do so in a neutral environment. Not to imply the last gathering was in any way non-neutral as I thought it was pretty successful. But this way you don’t have that excuse.

A good place to hold this gathering would be the band shell not to far from the 72nd St Central Park W. entance to the park. Right behind it there is an area where a lot of martial artists would meet to train back in the day. At least it’s a good place to meet. It is an easy to find landmark where people could meet and go somewhere else.
It would certainly be a pleasure to meet you. Therefore I hope you can make it back to NYC for that “recharge”
Your suggestion for a location seems fine to me and unless someone more knowledgable of the area, read NY resident ;), objects I opt we use this as a rally point if nothing else.
So I propose that we take Phil’s advice and meet at the BAND SHELL NEAR THE WEST ENTRANCE TO THE PARK NEAR 72ND STREET. We should all be there no later than noon.

Dave forming a meeting so that wing chun practioners can meet and develop freindship is good. Wing Chun needs unity. Your vision is on the right track. I would like to make the meeting and share my visions and listen to others. However, I have one problem. Sifu James who teaches Buddha Hand Wing Chun would be doing a seminar that day which sounds very interesting. I’m not sure which way I would go? Hard choice!
Sifu Cama wants everyone to know the conflicting date was unintentional and wishes everyone good training. If you wish to come by after and say hello your all welcome.
That sounds great. James Cama is a great guy,not to mention he is a great Sifu as well. He is known for his openness, honesty and warmth. Not at all like some of the ego-driven people we’ve all met.
I am sure that the conflict in dates was unintentional. Though I have never met Sifu Cama we have spoken on the phone on several occassions. He always seemed like an upright person.
We could all meet and then after a time drop by to pay our respects to Sifu Cama. I would like to insure that if this were to happen there would be no disruption to the seminar.
I leave to everyone to think on this. Consider whether it might be better to schedule the gathering for another time and date in order to allow those wishing to attend to go to the seminar. I assure you this would not offend me in any way.
There are some who would like to attend the Fut Sau seminar and I can fully understand and appreciate that desire. I could think of far worse ways to spend the time. With this in mind I would like to propose that we change the date of the gathering in order to allow those that wish to attend the seminar.
I propose that we move this into early September. I can not do this in August as I will be hosting my Sifu at a seminar late in the month. Early September or perhaps October will work for me begin holding classes in my area starting in September. I just had a thought; a rare event :
How about moving this to October and making it a Halloween event as well??? Or, how about someone else, in the NY area picking up on this and going forward if I can not??
I would like to get a feel for what everyone would like to do regarding this get together.
As already mentioned there is a conflict with another seminar which was uninentional on both sides. I would like to know if you would prefer to hold this gethering at another time or to go ahead with it. It really is up to you guys so please feel free to express your opinions either way.
I would love to attend the orginal date but I’ve desided to attend the seminar which starts at 1:oo so have to be there even before then, so any date after that would be fine with me but it would be tough for me if you moved it a week or two up.Also ,we should pick a rain date just to be safe.Dave, I know your seminar with your sifu is coming up so what ever works best..
