We are in the process of creating a new Wing Chun forum/chat room which deals exclusively with “Wing Chun” without invading mixed MMA threads… All are welcome to join… Hope at least the last 1500 people that hit my Webdsite within the last 4 days would join…
What is it that is wrong with MMA. Discussing real fighting? Does that bother some of you? Or is it simply the fact that wing chun seems to come up short very often. I’d really like to know… Calculus is fun and all. So is theory. But it in reality does very little for our fighting abilility…
So far Wing Chun has worked great for me! However, when it comes to multiple opponents, there’s always that trusty 4 inch S30V blade in my hand, ready to dismember my competition. Oh yeah, I guess that may be considered MMA. Whatever one may call it, I hope I don’t have to resort to it any time soon. So far Wing Chun has done fine. So PEACE UP! A TOWN, KICK IT!!!
Yeup Fajing…the art of Wing Chun has everything one needs and then some. It’s like an open encyclopedia of sorts. If some folks think that the art comes up short then a major re-evaluation is in order. Remember it is not the art which makes the person, but the person is the one who makes the art.
Moderators usually don’t look kindly on someone advertising another martial art website around here; but in your case, Cedric, if it means that a whole bunch of false and slanderous posts and those who post them might disappear from this forum - (because they’re now so busy fleeing from reality fighting, ie.- MMA)…
well, maybe in your case he could make an exception.
(Perhaps he might even make this thread a sticky. )
[QUOTE=(because they’re now so busy fleeing from reality fighting, ie.- MMA)… )[/QUOTE]
I have no problem with MMA(reality fighting???). However, are we talking about a sporting event on TV or self defense on the street. I am only referring to self defense on the street. I am not an aspiring MMA competitor. Therefore my reality fighting is what I may encounter in public places or my home, if someone breaks in. Wing Chun has been perfectly sufficient to this point. I am certainly not claiming to have the skill to defeat any fighter, BUT once again, my knife fighting skills come in handy. In REALITY, or at least the one I know, people have knives and guns and all sorts of weapons. Empty hand martial arts won’t always do the trick. Once again, if I’m faced with numerous attackers or if I feel out of my league, I can deploy my knife in a heartbeat (of course you must train for this as well). NO empty hand martial art can compete with a skilled knife fighter (and even an average Joe with a knife half the time). My goal isn’t to win a trophy or a belt. It’s to protect my family. In REALITY, I seriously doubt I will be challenged on the street by Randy Couture, Tito Ortiz, or Chuck Liddell.
It is uneccessary to make an attempt to speak for myself or Sandman. I assure you both of us are quite capable of speaking our minds just fine.
I, personally, have no problem with anyone mentioning the existence of another forum where people can discuss Wing Chun. On this board I know that Kathy Jo has a forum and it is an excellent place to discuss Wing Chun outside of some of the overinflated egos you may encounter elsewhere.
I wish Ali all the best with his forum and, if some of the many incarnations of certain trash talking immature posters wish to take residence over there, they will not really be missed. However, EVERYONE who wishes to post here and discuss WING CHUN is welcome to do so. NO ONE who continues to post negative attacks will be welcome here.
Victor,
I have PM’d you in the past and I am now publically asking that you let this go. I spoke to Phil on the phone concerning some of the postings of late. You are welcome to contact me directly, but please do not make the error of posting something on the forum which could be construed as negative or making an attack on others. Such actions will tend to paint you with the same brush as those you are arguing against and in the end little if any good will come of it.
Ali,
I have also PM’d you and am now publically asking that you and anyone associated with you also desist from any negative attacks on anyone else. I would also caution you to consider the way some of the more recent posts may paint you as well. Some of them could be considered rather racist and definitely innappropriate for this forum. Whether you are involved or not, you could make it plain that you do not condone any such behavior. I know that I would not tolerate anyone who claimed to be a student of mine, posting some of the garbage I have seen here.
Why don’t we all agree to disagree and get on with the discussion of an art which many of claim to love? Rather than keep posting the negative attacks or anything to keep it going, why not step away from the computer and spend a little more time in training?
I’m not going to take a “it will all be wonderful from here on in, you’ll see” attitude about recent developments around here…
precisely because they’re not so recent.
We’ve been here, done this too many times…(it’s got to be close to a year now, at least, that the Phil Redmond lies, slander, and attempted intimation, and challenges calling out Phil to fight without any provocation threads and posts have been coming).
So I won’t “say” I’m going to lay down the sword about this until there REALLY is no need for the sword to be raised anymore.
And if that means that some of my posts get deleted or I get banned - then so be it.
That’s the way I play the game. Phil is an old friend of some 20+ years.
Curious, is this about your or is it about Phil? I ask because when I spoke to Phil he seemed quite reasonable and understanding. If he is willing to let things go, then why can’t you??
I can fully appreciate the rising to defend a friend and brother, but you must consider your tactics and purpose. Don’t sink to the same level as those you may oppose. Besides, what have you accomplished with some of your posting thus far?? Has it made anyone stop or helped or hurt Phil in any way?
If posts which are negative in nature are made, they will be deleted, irregardless of who does the posting. If someone continues to keep posting such, especially after being warned then that person will be banned!
Recently a number of members, sometimes the same one with multiple identities, have been banned. But, it is really a shame when it has to come to this as we should all be a bit more mature. Besides, should’nt Sifu have a bit of a thicker skin and more self discipline?? Lead by example and be worthy of both following and respect.
This is my last word on the subject here. You have the option of continuing to discuss this by email or PM. I encourage you to do so, just as I encourage you to post topics relevant to Wing Chun.
No favorites here, I will try to treat everyone the same.
All of your questions about is it personal, and to whom, and why, and what have my posts accomplished…have been answered on a pm I just sent you, Sihing73.
