Need a little help

I am searching for the origins of two sets I came across and so far i wasnt able to find out any of it, especially this one:

The second is a Xingyi Da Qiang. But I cant figure out which one. A friend where I sometimes discuss online with said that it reminds him of his Taiji Spear.

lol…well I’ll be ****ed.

I can’t help you with the background but that video of the monks spade performance…that was in 2012. The previous year, I actually competed in that event. The “silver award” video in my sig is something I got from that same collection, that youku user “wushu” http://i.youku.com/u/id_UMTU5MzAzNTgw

Made me think maybe there was someone I could ask in Xi’an but I see that the performer is from Shandong so he’s not really from around here.

It it wasn’t for this guy going around to all the govt. sponsored national events, I’d have no video of my competition baji at all.

Lol, I have looked for it, thanks..:stuck_out_tongue: :frowning:

Are you looking for origins of those specific sets or the weapons in general?

As for Monk Spade, I tackled the topic in our 2012 Shaolin Special's cover story: The Spade, the Whip and the Mountain Gate. We also developed a DVD on it: Shaolin Monk’s Spade Master Kit - this is a different form from the one demonstrated in the vid above.

As for Xingyi Da Qiang, check out The Xingyi Long Spear: The Da Qiang, Longest of the Long Weapons,Trains Explosive Power By Fukui Yang and Bob Feldman from our 2001 November/December issue. That one is only available in print so you’ll have to order the back issue if you don’t already have it.
