movies with Choy Lay Fut

Is there anywhere that is selling videos of Choy Lee Fut Kid with Fu Sheng? And was this film directed by Chang Cheh, like many of the Shaolin Hung Gar films Fu Sheng appeared in?

Movies I’ve personally seen CLF:
Dual of the Seven Tigers
Drunken Master II
Knockabout
Who Am I?
My Young Auntie (a little in the opening credit sequence)
Tiger Over Wall (?). I read somewhere that Philip Ko (Kao Fei) was a CLF man.
Police Story (?). At the end, looks like Jackie Chan attacks Feng Ke-An with a CLF sequence and punches out glass.
Lung Fa-Wei(forgot the English title, it’s a Taiwanese KF movie that has a scene where a fat woman takes out a gang of men using CLF).

Guys,

While your friends were disputing about chinese pop culture and southern kung fu, here are see a group of CLF proudly linking their stylies to famous titles like drunken master 2.

I hope you southern lot can get your stories straight. And I quote mono68 saying:

“It is a chinese soap opera really good set drills are shown. also mentions CLF concepts and theories This is worth having. It was from the early 80’s It has like twenty chapters approximately 40 minutes long (it is a soap opera).”

Southern train in red junks but not with real weapons. A wrong move could slice though the hull - causing hull breach and drowing all occupants within. That said CLF is nothing more than soap opera.

Sorry for you Tiny_Ego.
I see you have personalities problem, go to asylum and stay there for a moment.
I didn’t answer your previous posts because I’m really sad for you. If you are happy with your style, let us be happy with ours.

I watched the movie “Choy Lay Fut” and it was great. Old school, but great. The kung fu was good and training was fun to watch. It is obvious from what aspect this story was told, which is fine, I respect other peoples understanding of their arts history. It was really cool to see CLF in fighting action, It was almost educational.

Sow Choy- Can you point out your Sifu or the famous CLF people in this movie. (I really didnt recognize anyone)

Wow, Arhat, how’d you get your copy so early? I can’t wait to get mine!

Did you also watch the second movie of that double feature (Tiger’s Claw)?

Yee Sam, I had my copy sent priorty for about $4.00
I havent had a chance to watch Tigers Claw yet but plan to tonight. Is that one supposed to be CLF too. It looks like from the cover that TC has Hung Gar in it. Do you know anything about that one?

Choy Lay Fut movie

For those who have or haven’t seen it, Lee Koon Hung is the dai sing hing of Chan Hueng’s school. He is the one leading the class during the exercises. He is seen in many scenese with the fat guy and fights with Cheong Yim when the master goes away. Lee Koon Hung’s younger brother who lives in NY is in a couple of scenes. The students of the school were Lee Koon Hung’s actual students. They all live in Hong Kong so their names would mean little to anyone outside of the older Lee Koon Hung family. Most of the U.S. students would only know a few of them.

Peace.

P.S. Yutyeesam, I sent you a response to your question. Feel free to ask me anything as I will help you the best I can.

Very much appreciated, CLFNole, thank you.

I can’t wait to see this movie. I saw a small tribute to LKH at the end of the CLF Drunken form tape, and was blown away by the man’s abilities, from just that small footage.

I know its a tough q, but what was your fondest memory of LKH?

Peace,

That is a very hard question to answer because I have many memories from the short time we (in the states) were able to know him. I took it very hard when he passed away.

The thing I admired most about him was that he was rather laid back, never boasted let his kung fu do the talking. I remember when he was waiting for his heary tranplant he would always be upbeat when we visited him every week in the hospital. Kung fu was his life before his 1996 tournament while in the hospital he had all of the instructors tape the forms we were going to do and he wrote what each of us did wrong and needed to work on.

He was a great man as well as a sifu.

Peace.

Anybody know about Tat Mau Wong hosting some Kung-Fu theatre TV show in Cali? Does he do kung-fu on it?

Thanks for the recap, CLFNole. Do you know if he had students that pursued careers in the Hong Kong martial arts film industry that got decent sized roles?
It would make sense, because the CLF that you guys do translates to screen pretty well.

Nobody that I know of went into movies. Sifu only did a couple. I don’t think it was a big interest to them. Certain movie people studied with sifu occationally such as Alexander Fu Sheng, Carter Wong and Yang Pan Pan (the girl in Duel fo the 7 Tigers and Hung Sing CLF).

Peace.

I really envy haow you southern guys train. wack on a video and watch the fight sceens. I really don’t know what the dispute was about when I made the claim that Southern Kung Fu was just soap opera. Everyone on this post including me support this claim.

Given that what translates on screen is not serious fighting and CLF translates well on screen, therefore CLF is not for serious fighting and does not translate well on the streets or on the battlefields.

please don’t answer that troll

No merit to answer

I just saw Choy Lay Fut. It was absolutely amazing to see that much Choy Lay Fut in a movie.

I’m not too familiar with Alexander Fu Sheng’s past movies.

Yeah, it was amazing to see how they employed the pek choy and biu jongs in combat.
