Actually I can’t copy it. It is an all regions DVD (meaning you need a Regions Free DVD player) and I don’t have a DVD burner. The CLF he plays is different from my own and if I remember correctly is more buk sing as the person who worked with the action director was the uncle of Fu Sheng’s wife, Jenny, who is also in the movie. I can’t remember his name I would have to ask my sifu, I saw an old HK kung fu magazine he has that shows pictures of the movie and how he worked with Fu Sheng for it.
You can find that movie in Chinatown, I recently bought a copy from the new Shaw Release going on, It has on the cover the chinese characters of Choy Lee Fut Kid, but is titled “The New Shaolin Boxers”. I got mine at one of the dvd stores near broadway on grant, check it out.
Everything is going good, here at work now bored to death, 5:00 can’t come fast enough. One of my students parents is in China, and told me the long thought no copies available of the originall Kwan tak Hing series of Wong Fei Hong, they found a bunch of copies and she will try to bring as many back as possible. I was asked what did I want and that’s what I told her try to find copies of wong fei hong movies w/ kwan tak hing. She will be back in july but she told me already she has about 7 different movies now, and one particular you and sifu will like, wong fei hung character fights against choy lee fut. I’m curious to see this as well, because reportedly they didn’t make up forms in those movies they did real stuff so there’s much preservation with those films. I’ll dub copies when she’s back. I knew these movie had to be around because Sifu Chiu Chi Ling told me thay play them on t.v. in hong kong.
this is a great site for kung fu movies. they have all the classics. they also have all the “new” re-released shaw series flix, remastered, widescreen, suround sound…sweeeet.
Thanks to troy, and CLF Nole I went out and picked up the CLF Siu Gee, and I thought the storyline was typical corny gung fu movie, but the CLF was off the hook.
I heard Alexander Fu Sheng actually learned some CLF somewhere, but he makes CLF look so good.
A definete worth while edition to a CLF collection.
Since we are on the topic of CLF in movies I thought I would share my favourite CLF stuff but it is actually a tvb series. It is called “Nam Kuen Choy Lay Fut” (translate roughly “Southern Fist Choy Lay Fut”) BUT the english name is “The Rise of a Kung Fu Master”
I don’t know if you guys have seen it or not but I personally love it. BE WARNED it is historically inaccurate so don’t look at it for any reason to be. On the other hand it has a great story with interesting characters and awesome kung fu action without the silly floating in air stuff. On the other hand there is a ridiculous bit with people using magic cult kung fu to heal cuts and etc…BUT that doesnot deter from how enjoyable or awesome the series is.
Personally I don’t like the way Fu Sheng plays CLF but he is funny and makes most movies enjoyable. He learned from his wife’s uncle and also learned a little from my sifu. He mostly learned hung gar from Lau Kar Leung and thus his hung kuen looks much better than his CLF.

I have the series you are referring to, it stars Meng Fei. Pretty good for one of the TVB drama series. The kung fu is not bad and the story is pretty good as well.
Yeah I think that’s the series. Meng Fei I am not sure if he does kung fu but he does the job for me. You own the series? where did you get it? VCD or DVD or classic VHS?
VHS my sifu had brought it over from Hong Kong and when me and my wife were moving her mother in with us I found it. It works on PAL so it is a pain in the arse.
Alexander Fu Sheng was a student at some time of Lau Ga Leung, I was told when he passed Lau Ga Leung took it very hard. I 've also seen Lau Ga Leung also play the same sets as Chan Kin Man. Not saying he learned from Chan Kin Man, but i’ve seen him play the same form as him. Also you can find that Choy Lee Fut TVB series in Chinatown, i’ve bought it in Oakland’s as well as a Hung Gar TVB Series and one I really like is “Hero from Futsan”.
