I watched a movie with Jet Li the other night called “Hero”, it was kinda crouching tiger-ish. Was their another name for this movie. I’m thinking its one of the “Swordsman movies” can anyone confirm or enlighten.
TIA

Thanks for the info, I already have a copy, I was wondering if it was a re-release or something of the like. One could tell it was a bit new due to how old Jet looks.
Thanks again,
Arhat
no prob…
Hero won the academy award for best foreign film last year, didn’t it?
I heard that the movie name that was alternate to “hero” was teh name of the style that Jets character developed.
what was it? Death within 10 paces" or something like that.
I thoroughly enjoyed that flick by the way, it was way cool as a ma flick goes.
Up there in the highly collectible list with cthd/im/masterkiller/stormriders etc.
that ain’t no kentucky fried movie for sure! ![]()
cheers
yeah, I think you’re correct, there was a technique jet used called “death within 10 paces”
It was particularly interesting from the standpoint from which the story was told.
Hero
Thanks for the plug NP!
Hero was titled Yingxiong in Chinese, which means Hero. It was nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign film, but lost. It’s director, Zhang Yimou, is one of China’s finest art filmmakers. Here’s our ezine article on Hero.
At least when you order it from MAM, they give you some instructions on how to turn on the English subtitles.![]()
lolz MK, It took me about a friggin half hour to find out.
I had help from a freind who can read chinese lol.
That must really freak a lot of people out when all they see are these chinese characters
they don’t know what to do!!! ahhhhhh, they will say.
but once you get to see the movie, that doesn’t amtter anymore, that thing (the movie hero) was totally a piece of art more than a kungfu flick imo. The colours were awesome and the use of colour from scene to scene was brill.
cheers… I wonder if this should get binked into Pat’s forum?
