Check out Dr. Reid’s scathing expose on the summer batch of movies and their attempts to imitate Hong Kong action. Also download our free screen saver of some of our featured masters. And of course, there’s a new quiz with your chance to win a free prize.

Good stuff Gene.
The T-shirt quiz offer is real nice too, :D…you know what I mean.

Gotta say though, the red text on the blue background is pretty difficult to read on the opening page.

Other than that it’s all good!

I agree with kung lek the opening screen actually hurt my eyes as I tried to read it, so you may want to change the colors a bit. But the rest looks good. keep up the good work gene or should I say Mr.Ching…

Apologies for the interruption of service over the weekend. :o

And we’re back!

For now at least.

Apologies for the intermittancy of KFM. It’s been an IT nightmare on this side. Our IT has been working feverishly to get everything restored. Still at it for the bulk of KFM but at least we have the forum back now (assuming this test post works).

We’re sort of back…

I’m getting 404s on Brave, Firefox & Chrome. It works on Safari but embedded videos are not showing up.

If anyone is out there and can post here, please do as a test. It’ll help with our restoration.

We’re going offline again this weekend

I suspect no one is reading this but we will be going offline this weekend - Feb 7-9 - to make more repairs.

IT claims that our forum works on all browsers if you clear the cache & reboot but I tried that with Chrome and had no success.

If anyone is reading this, please reply just so I know somebody’s still out there…

Works on chrome for iPad

Looks like you’re moving KFM to Wordpress (at long last) let me know if you guys need any assistance.

However

Not only did it automatically log me out after posting — but…

We’re back! Please be patient as we all sort the new features and such. Welcome home, everyone.

Our forum can now be reached via a smart phone.
Yay!

Looks good.

Welcome back MightyB!

I’m adjusting to the new features. Most of it is the same but ther are a few new whistles & bells.

Let me know what you discover.

So far it seems to function in the same way as the last version. I haven’t tried using it on my phone, but I do like the autosave function. It’ll take awhile to get used to the new color scheme. I’m hoping that others will come back and start posting and not just lurk. Those old school flame wars were fun.

Have they considered digitizing all of their old magazines to have on the new version of the website? I know several articles were available, but it’d be fun to have the old magazines digitized entirely as they were written and originally laid out.

That is part of the plan. Some of the back issues are available through Zinio but part of the new website will include the back issues, so I’m told.

Darn, just checked Zinio. Those are the issues I still have.

We did Zinio for the last few years of the print mag. It was only good for our international subscribers. Hopefully, the new site will have all the back issues, but they will be behind a nominal subscription paywall. And the older issues won’t be up for a while as those need to be digitized. When I first started working at KFM in '99, we were still using film, not digital production.

Woohoo! Our first spammer raid. Got to try out the new banning and deletion process. It’s much easier now with the new forum.

Temu spam - probably some bot grab in the face of the upcoming tariffs. The tariffs will be very hard for the martial arts industry so my advice to all of you is buy stuff now. When those tariffs come in, it’ll affect martial arts gear across the nation because almost everything is imported from Asia.

Now it feels like we’re really back.

I confess I enjoyed the flame war era too, except for the moderation part. I suspect it’ll never be quite like before because the notion of online forums was weakened by the rise of social media, but I always argue that forums are a searchable database, unlike most social media which is limited in their search capacity.

We are planning to digitize all the back issues as well as all the instructional videos, but the will be behind a subscription paywall. It’ll be cheap tho - a few bucks a month. That’s the plan anyways.

And the spammer raid continues. Sorry, I didn’t log on last weekend so I didn’t catch them until today. The good news is that the new forum has some improved banning & deletion functions.

Feckn Temu bots.

Onward…
