I was just wondering… Next year I will be going off to college and worrying about such wonderful things like rent, tuition etc. Contemplating my sellable skills, I realized I’m a bit limited…I can act and break limbs. Leafing through the classifieds, I realized that there are no openings for semi-violent, good looking, actor types of 18 years. Hmmm whatever will become of me? Options popping into my head were: bouncer(I’m a bit skinny), MMA tourney fighter(give me about five years, a new set of knees, and we’ll see), instructor(I am severely lacking in skill and age for this), cop(and school riiight) etc. I’m still trying to think of ways I can support my school habit, rent, and MA classes utilizing the skills I have. Also, I’ve been trying to figure out what jobs I can get after college since I will be studying some combination of: theater, writing, kinesiology, international studies, asian studies. I want to study in Japan for a while too.
So, my question to all of you is, what possibilities can you guys think of for me as far as a career(or at least temp job) in MA goes.
Please keep in mind, I am kinda skinny(6’ 155lbs.) and will turn 18 in 3 weeks. I’ve also got to be able to continue my training.
I realize this is a pretty strange question and possibly unanswerable but I thought I’d ask anyway.
Thanks for your time.

does the school you plan on attending have any self defense classes? You wouldnt have to be a sifu to charge people a very small fee just to share knowlege and training. or…you could be a bag checker at the airports…now that theyre federalized i hear they make 35 grand a year. hehehe…you should probably ignore everything ive said…or be a security guard.
Mcdonalds?
Naw just playin I was looking for somthing different to. I was thinking about security but that is probally boring. I’d like to be a body guard but I am not sure where to find the right training for that near Chicago, you’d need more than MA skill for that. I teach classes now but you don’t make much money like that and on topp of that I am really hard on students.
Actually NO they make you throw them away even if you are starving! Most fast food places do that unless you are cool with the manager, trust me I worked in plenty of those places.
If you want a career in MA then maybe its best you drop out of school and practice full time. But then again having a degree will help getting teaching positions at Universities teaching martial arts but you gotta give up that drama acting and asian studies the kinesiology might help understand movement, some business classes would be a must, then check out what martial arts classes are offered and if they have any great teachers in whatever art is taught take those classes. I see your in San Diego if I were you I’d check out Mike Patterson’s school www.hsing-i.com someone with the success his school has afforded probably isnt luck.
