Just got in a wreck on my motorcycle, I'm fine

Today, I am black and blue from mid thigh to my hips.

Reminds me of you college days in Mexico.

Reminds me of you college days in Mexico

Hopefully it has nothing to do with an infamous donkey act!

I swear, you’re like a psychic.

Jon Wayne “El Burro” Taylor

Yeah, you know you played a little to hard the night before when you wake up with unexplainable mule hair on your boxers :o

Glad you’re ok. When you get back riding again, remember to assume all drivers have 0 intellect, and that if they can mess up, they will.

My bro is an instructor for the Advanced Riding School in london, and has to commute everyday into the city ( :o ) and that’s his motto. Assume stupidity.

I know it sounds eerie [or kinky if you’re that way inclined!] but get your wife/partner/queer next door neighbour to photograph your injuries, and then sue that b!tch for all she’s worth.

JWT has a new Martial Arts Instructor nick name:

JW “Iron Balls” Taylor. Go ahead, kick him in the groin! See what happens to your foot!

Glad to hear that you are ok. Take it easy until you are better. If you need anything, don’t hesitate to call on Thomas.

I’m glad you’re O.K.

My Goldwing is still in storage but spring is going to arrive early this year and, I’m really looking forward to pull her out of her sleep!
We really have to be super carefull and attentive on these things but there is nothing like it eh?..

He claims his iron crotch dented the tank, but I suspect it’s more likely the work of an infamous belt buckle, discreetly brought out of retirement, and worn just in case some punk gets in his business.

Sharky,
“Assume stupidity” is a great motto. I always keep that in mind when I design web sites. I call it “Idiot Factor”.

El Burro, haha thats classic. I live in El Paso and Juarez is a hop, skip, and jump away and the “Donkey Show” is a **** urban legend now. Its so bad now that our main rock station has a compilation CD out thats called the Donkey Show, haha.

Peace

JTW.

Are you sure that the Bike is a goner.

Many a friend “scraped” their Bikes after a similar aciddent and than re-build/customised them over the Weekends.

Of course Bike needed to be re-registered afterwards.

That is in case you are into that type of thing.
Just a thought.

If the insurance company totals it, you may be able to buy it back from them cheap and then rebuild it from parts you get on ebay, www.cyclesalvage.com etc.

A girl I’m friends with just totalled her '92 GSF400, she was shaken up but alright, bent the forks, bent bars, busted the shifter, brakes, etc, and now shes getting new parts off the web, I’m gonna help her put it all back together in a few weeks.

Its a d@mn shame tho if your KZ1000 was totally cherry, you’ll never get it that perfect again, and the aftermarket parts are much cheaper and easier to find.

Yeah, good point Sharky. I always assume every driver out there will run the light or stopsign, swerve into me, basically be an idiot in every possible situation (and they usually are). Sometimes people get hit though and theres virtually nothing they could have done, thats just the risk that goes with it. But that can happen to you in a car or on a bicycle too.

I have a box full of brand new carbon fibre parts just delivered today, sitting right next to me here at work, just begging to be put on my '01 Suzuki TL1000R in place of the stock parts, can’t wait :stuck_out_tongue:

JW, I still can’t believe you ballz crushed through your friggin’ gas tank, thats insane, ouch!!! You da man. Must have been all that ‘donkey show’ practice.

I believe that one, saw 3 tanks dented that way. Ouch and double ouch.

Honestly JWT, think about rebuilding her. Most damages look a lot worse, than they actually are. And often Original or 2nd hand Spares can be had cheap at the right places.

If you can’t get certain parts let me try for you over here. I got access ot a bout 3 shops that specialise in Bikes that age and do restorations.

Insurance Companies tend to scrap Bikes way too easy, IMO.

Seeya.

Also, my bro has a biker tshirt that says “sorry mate, didn’t see you there!” on it

Classy huh?

Basically, from the tank forward everything on the bike would have to be replaced. The wheel is bent, the forks are bent, the handlebars are broken, the top of the spine fo the fork is broken, instrument panel gone, light gone, headers bent into the block, and we’ve already discussed the tank.

If you know of cheap parts, that would be cool. I really like that bike allot, it’s been great to me. But it’s been my experience that parts for that bike are incredibly expensive. You won’t find most of it in any salvage shop around here, but maybe other places have stuff.

BTW, when I got hit, it wasn’t too bad. But now it hurts to fu(king breath. I knew the second and third day would be worse, but d@mn I’m sore.

Her insurance compnay hasn’t called me back yet, day three.

JW, I don’t know that I’d ever trust the stability of a rebuilt bike that’s been seriously wrecked.

JW.

Damage as I expected. Let me re-hash:
1.)Engine fine, maybe needs a crank cover.
2.)Tank dented, but could be fixed.
3.) New Rim & Front Fork assembly.
4.) Frame sounds like a bit of welding might fix it.
5.) New Handelbar, can be secondhand.

Agree with guohen, fixed Bike will never be as good again. Mostly due to rider knowing the diff.
Had similar damage done to a Bike, don’t cut corners and try to get old Parts fixed and don’t buy non-original parts for the important pieces.

In the end I bought 2 scrapped Bikes same as mine, rebuild mine and sold the rest back to the scrapyards/dealers.

Took me a total of 8 month to get her back on the road. A lot of help came from fellow Bikers that offered labour/advise or even tracked down some parts for me.

And yes, it will hurt now a lot more than when you came off. I once rode 25miles with a cracked ankle without realising it.

Anyhuh all the best.

Donkey Show…
JWT, were you the burrow, or the burree?

Make sure you get to the doctor for a complete checkup. Take care.

PS I’m now doubting that the belt buckle ever existed, me thinks you were swinging something else a bit more personal at that hotdog stand.

I can put it through the eye of a needle at 10 yards.
