Pat fat?

I wouldn’t say that!

OK, maybe I’ve been reading too much Dr. Seuss lately.

To be honest, I really don’t see the issue with making weight - he’s not cheating, so where’s your beef? All sports are symbolic combat. Our fight sports are the most true to form. Now of course there are rules, there are even rules of war, although those have been breaking down for centuries. If your strategy is still legal, you retain your honor. Perhaps you can fault the rules. Perhaps you should try to play the game first, so you know how the rules work in action, then you should judge.

If you think you’re doing yourself a service di*king around with your weight, well bully for you dude, but for myself, rather than even risk comprimising what I work so hard for, I’d rather train and maintain at devision weight and be in full effect come event time…

When you compete, many people don’t train as hard normally as they do in pre competition mode - the three months or so before an event. Even though you may be training hard, it may not be quite as intense, your diet may slack, etc. We’re human, it happens. losing 19 lbs in the time he did is extreme, but had he started 3 months prior to the event, that would’ve been perfectly fine.

besides, if he’s eaten that much food, 15 pounds of it or was 19…fraid the guys gonna be a lil on the stodgey side…you can’t tell me he’d be fighting at his comfortable best or even more comfotable than he would’ve been if he had’ve abstained and chosen alternative

depends on the shape he’s in. I compete at 230 - no prob. I’m in good shape anyway and I’m used to it. The only problem is that I’m the smallest guy in the over 220, as opposed to the biggest guy in the heavy division. For that reason, I’m dropping back to below 220. MT is fine, but grappling with a guy who’s 6’3 and 335 is a pain in the arse…

blooming…

I meant that as a plural ‘you’ not a personal ‘you’. One of the problems with English is that there is no plural for ‘you.’ “You guys” or “youse” is used colloqially, but it’s not like ni and ni men in Chinese. My comment was directed to anyone who was overly critical of Pat’s making weight. I do find that criticism absurd, but that doesn’t mean I think the people making it are absurd. I just think you (ni men) should step into the ring, or at least be in the corner, before criticising.

ok so maybe more observant than critical but remember…I plan to compete against this team…so self is cheering

I think 7’s feeling me though…thats exactly (ish) what I’m getting at…oh..and LOL@grappling with the fat dude…pls see thread best ma for fitness

gene…ni men?? Why did I think it was nin?

nin vs. ni men

ni means ‘you’. When you add the men that makes it plural, ie. wo and wo men means I and we. nin is a very subtle way to show respect; it has the same meaning as ni but you use it for people you respect more. y’all got dat?

man, if y’all be learnin’ yo chinese from lil’ ol’ me, y’all in a world of hurtin’
