I’ve been so busy that I’m late with this and I apologize. Grandmaster Tu wa featured in the November 4 edition of the Weekly World News (Cover story - Saddam & Osama adopt shaved ape baby) on page 16 in an article titles Crotches of Steel by Dak Mendelson. The article was largely derivative of my first piece on GM Tu back in our SEP OCT 2001, Iron *****.
Frankly, I couldn’t be more honored. I have always dreamed of writing for the Weekly World News. After writing so much for the martial arts, it would be such refreshing fun to write something that wasn’t bound to anything. GM Tu was pleased too. He’s well aware of the usual newsworthiness of his iron crotch skills and takes it all in stride. WWN is new to him, but he got it. I guess after being featured in Playboy, well, he knows where he stands in the West.
By the way, he has his own site in English now - a cooperation with www.martialartsmart.com. Check out www.ironcrotch.com. And tell your friends! It’s a lot better than the Viagra spam they are surely getting already.
He claims it can prevent old age and diseases, increase energy and vitality, make muscles and bones stronger, reduce arterial blockage, cholesterol levels, diabetes, allergies and ear problems.
No wonder I never get any earaches…
So playing with yourself can cause blindness but prevent deafness?
Well, it’s not playing with yourself unless you “shoot”. If you don’t shoot, it’s just scratching. That’s the hardest part of Iron Crotch (yes, pun intentional) DON’T SHOOT!!
I haven’t looked at his iron crotch video, but I do have his Eight Pieces of Brocade(which is a very odd version of this QiGong set because it’s very hard style and almost like a stretching routine more than a breath oriented chi set) and Dragon Bone QiGong(which is a spinal alignment seminar)
So is his Iron crotch video an actual Golden Bell set or is it just hanging weights? Anyone know?
He claims it can prevent old age and diseases, increase energy and vitality, make muscles and bones stronger, reduce arterial blockage, cholesterol levels, diabetes, allergies and ear problems.
You know,I´d really like to see the references…
Scythefall is right - Dragon Bone has nothing to do with Iron Crotch (and Tu’s Baduanjin is very martial - in fact it is the most martial one that I’ve seen until the one that we are running in our Jan Feb 2004 issue.) Iron Crotch is not really an Iron Body - in fact the usage of the term Iron Crotch is somewhat of a misnomer. In truth, it’s a Taoist longevity skill from a style called Jiu Jiu Shen Gong. This is different then Tiedanggong - or the gong of Iron Crotch and it’s more than just hanging weights. There is a complete curriculum of qigong training that has to be done in conjunction with hanging.
And besides, if it’s in the Weekly World News, it’s gotta be true. If only I can get the bat boy to plug Iron Crotch…
