Good gear?

What, in your opinion, is the best pair of pants, or shoes, that you use for kung fu? I just use Sweat pants and swim shoes xD

swim shoes?

Best pants

Best shoes

Even Better Pants

Even Better Shoes

Martial Arts Mart’s pants are way over priced considering the low quality.

As far as the shoes it depends on if you want low or high top.

For really good quality pants check out Joni Uniform. These pants are really well made and reasonably priced. The picture shows the pant with stripe but they come plain.

I get my clothes from local club, either black T or kung fu jacket with comfortable fitting slacks.

For shoes I always go for Feiyue or Warrior as that’s what they use in China, somewhere like www.yellowmountain.co.uk have decent prices and a good range of Feiyue and you can pick up Warrior off ebay. I know some guys who use Dunlop Raleighs but not as comfortable IMHO

Come on, guys

You know where you’re posting and who pays for this forum. Have some respect.

Shop Martial Smart! Shop Martialartsmart!!!

My loyalty will always be to MartialArtsMart.

Never, EVER had a problem with them. Great service, great prices.

And no, I’m not kissing up to Gene. He has nothing I want.

here’s where I’d start:

I don’t like long pants for training. I don’t really like to wear shoes either but if I’m working on concrete/asphalt I don’t really have a choice so a pair of chucks or feiyues work the best.

Old school Spartan training was in the nude, oiled and ready !
Just saying.

How are we being disrespectful? Are we not allowed to talk about training equipment outside of items the forum sponsor offers?

I understand and appreciate the fact that you work for TC Media and as a loyal employee it’s partly your job to promote the company. But I do not work for them. My loyalty is with myself and my students.

I have been buying and selling martial arts equipment for nearly 15 years now as a student and school owner. In my professional opinion Martial Arts Mart and/or Tiger Claw does not offer the best equipment and the best prices. I honestly find their training equipment and weapons to be a bit over priced and novelty in quality at best. If they don’t value my opinion as a consumer then that just adds to the list of reasons for me to continue not purchasing their products.

You ask us to “show respect”; by giving my honest opinion I actually am not only showing respect to your company by giving them the feedback they need to improve the quality of their company but also to myself for voicing my beliefs and not cowering before a big corporation.

Seriously?

You know not the day nor the hour.

Talk about timing…I was just about to reply and you shot in right before me, Gene.

@Shaolin: Long story short, it’s about etiquette when you’re in somebody else’s house. And I’m not an employee of TC or MAM in any capacity.

I’m completely serious. I am not trying to be disrespectful, nor am I trying to challenge you Gene Ching. I’m trying to get a clear answer to the questions I asked, but instead I get Matthew 24:42.

The original question was:

No one on here posted telling the TS to go buy elsewhere, we merely answered the question of what gear we use.

cotton vs silk

cotton vs polyester

me like cotton made and loose fit with tie around ankle.

when you knee a lot or kick a lot, you would appreciate loose fit.

when you are in performance or “show”, you want something close fit or not baggy

what do I use

I prefer cotton.

and no shoes

if you kick a lot, your shoes will fly off in no time.

etc etc

and shop at MAM.

cool.

Actually, you basically did. And worse yet, you insulted the quality AND price point. Pretty rude, man.

No, I basically didn’t. The poster in front of me gave an example of the gear he supports. I voiced my opinion about that particular gear then site examples of the gear I prefer. It’s not an insult, it’s a critique and it’s business.

Do me a favor and stop ignoring the obvious. Oh, and don’t reword what you said to somehow make it seem innocuous. The whole semantics thing is a game a child would play (or politician).
