Thanks for the link…
This has popped up a few times.
Ok, the first sentence on that site says:
Other than football and certain field events like shot-putting, lifting heavy weights is counterproductive.
No thanks. I pretty much closed it after that.
I agree with Iron. It sucks. I read further than him and got:
“Breathing is critical. Holding your breath is taboo.”
In most circumstances I agree. But not while I’m doing a big lift.
Most of his exercises are just bastardized yoga done very badly. E.g. "Conditioning Exercise # 1 Arms, Chest, Back " is a variation of yoga’s downward facing dog transitioning to the cobra pose. He’s either (a) very inflexible or (b) has very bad form.

Dude I’m so afraid to hold my breath. I’ll hold it for like a second and then I’ll go “tsssssssss” really loudly. I find that’s the best sound to make to keep the abdomen pressurized but not actually be holding your breath. It lets you maintain a great deal of force. Crap, I can’t explain it. Just do it and you’ll see.
Was he talking about holding your breath during fighting or exercising? I make the same noise when I punch or kick, except it’s not as long then. “tss” every punch or kick.

Why? I probably do a 2-1-2 rhythm. Why can’t I hold my breath for 4 secs? I let it out on the last 1 1/2, but slowly. I certainly can’t start letting out e.g. on an eccentric squat. Then I breathe out and in before the next rep. So it’s a series of Valsalva maneuvers. But yeah, the article was talking about fighting I presume.
His exercises are ok. He needs to come up on his toes more when he does Hindu Squats, tho.

 His exercises suck.
Back to my previous example:
1st photo: back needs to be arched, chest pushes towards feet, pelvis tilts rather than back bends, feet shoulder width apart -> downward dog pose.
2nd photo: probably alright except with feet together -> board pose (?).
3rd photo: feet shoulder width, push pelvis to the ground (should be pretty much on the ground, not raised like he does), arch the lower back hard, roll shoulders backwards, tuck arms and elbows next to the side -> cobra pose.
He has pretty poor form on common exercises. The hindu squats were done completely wrong, and the push-ups looked very sloppy. Not to mention that in #5 wall sitting and that thigh stretch can be extremely damaging to the knees even when done correctly. I’d also like to point out that nose-to-mat bridging put’s extreme amounts of force directly on the vertebrae of the neck and can be dangerous. The Mayo Clinic and the McKinney (I think it’s his name, I’ll find it if it’s necessary) have both strongly warned against any such exercise. The Mayo Clinic obviously speaks for itself and the other guy is one of the few people in the world to have a PhD in the biomechanics of the spine.
I’d say to forget this site ever existed.
Toby, you can do that, I just don’t like to ![]()
Altho sometimes I’ll hold my breath while going for a PR.
Send in the clowns…
Judging from by the boner he displayed during his bridge he finds such exercise very exciting.
…
“Send in the clowns…”
Awww… upset because the site sucked? Ive put up plenty of links I thought were cool just to have them shot down.
…
Then I do some reading then go look at them a couple weeks later and go “You know what? That site really does suck.”
i was too busy looking at the fact that, rather than push himself straight up, he pushed himself toward his feet a little, causing his heels to rise and knees to come forward. then jack comes along and spoils it for everyone. ![]()
Am I jack?
Im a spoiler.
…
Thats why all the bitches always fall in love. They just want my dirty money.
My dirty, dirty money.

I just love how guys on this site love to shoot stuff down and yet never offer up any of their own ideas and/or contributions (beyond the inane) for other people to critique.
It must be a very safe place for the ego to hide.
Sitting their behind your keyboard waiting for someone to post something so you can tear it up or say its lame or say somebody got “owned.”
And even safer when you won’t post even a hint of a profile.
Ah wellllsss…

how often do you actually read this forum? ford just presented a thorough workout for MK – did you bother to notice that? each of us regulars knows what the other regulars are doing as far as the work we do. when we have questions, like ironfist did last week as his ptp cycle came to a close, we throw them out for the group to answer and share their knowledge.
iron – finishing ptp cycle
toby – doing ptp
sevenstar – doing ptp-esque, on top of general fight training
ford – explosive and endurance work
me – mainly endurance work, with some one-arm and handstand pushups and pistols for good measure.
foo – just got his second clubbell. is still drooling at the thought.
etc.
getting your panties in a bunch because a website you offered got criticized is pretty weak. you’ve been on this forum long enough to know that anything you offer up is open for scrutiny.
do you even disagree with the criticisms that were made?
i gave you the benefit of the doubt, because the website on its face looks decent. i gave it a cursory lookover, saw a couple exercises i do or have done, and stopped looking. i figured you did the same. then the criticism was laid and i looked deeper. but since you’re going to get upset because people criticize something, particularly when they apparently have good reasons for doing so, then i won’t bother with the benefit of the doubt.
if you can’t handle criticism that isn’t even directed at you, but only a website you suggest, then why are you bothering to post in the first place?
Gotta agree with Rub. We all offer up a good deal of info here and share ideas and programs. We don’t always agree with each other, but it is usually a gentleman’s disagreement which doesn’t ever enter into the realm of personal attacks and name calling.
Sorry. It was a lame site. If you want some good bodyweight drills check out:
www.trainforstrength.com (run by a former Navy Combat Diver who trains and competes in MMA and BJJ) It has comprehensive workout routines and some good info.
www.getfitnow.com (Stew Smith is a contibutor there. He is a former Navy SEAL and wrote the Navy’s current SEAL indoc PT course)
In either site, you won’t find poor form and these people have experience training many, many people including soldiers and fighters. But hey. Go with the Mr. Poor Form/Dangerous Exercise Internet Guy if you want.
Yeah I really can’t “handle it.” Sure buddy whatever…who the hell ever made you moderator anyways?
I don’t know why you keep responding to my posts FP cause you’ve been on my ignore list like forever…
