Conditioning

Can anyone post some ways that they condition their arms, fist, legs, ect. and what particular style they do?

as a muay thai practitioner, I say that all body conditioning can be done through sparring, bagwork and padwork. However, back in my CMA days, we did three star drills, iron palm and the like.

Arms=Hit 3 Stars exercise, with a partner or against a tree. Alternatively, can hit your arms with a wood dowel or a bundle of copper wire.

Shins=roll with a round wooden dowel.

Fist=knuckle push ups + bag work with unpadded gloves. You can also slap your hands, front and back against a big bag filled with beans, shot, etc.

Torso= find a buddy and throw and medicine ball at each other.

In all cases, with hard body conditioning start slowly and work up to more power/intent or you will do irreperable damage to your body.

heres a little video with conditioning methods

Yeah, it’s completely feasible for the average person to construct their own nifty playground of training equipment.

Here’s something more natural

Look at that, tree-hugging has even seeped into martial arts in China.

All jokes aside, that looks like some good stuff. But what they don’t show is that he probably uses loads of Dit Dat Jow.

It looks like he’s not overdoing it, so not necessarily.

WTF was that?:

Its like hes just asking for splinters.

Has anyone tried to tie a yellow book or so to a tree and hit it?

I dont think I’d recommend hitting trees at all. Even hardcore old school Muay Thai guys didnt hit big oak trees and such…they hit banana trees, which are soft and pliable and are not actually a tree at all…
Has anyone tried to tie a yellow book or so to a tree and hit it?
Had a friend who took a yellow pages and wrapped it in duct tape. made a great “target” for someone to hold and someone else to strike, offered good feedback. Not as soft as a focus mitt…not as hard as…well a tree!
