About the Eagle's Claw

I’m new to Martial Arts, but I’ve heard of a few forms, and the Eagle’s Claw is my favorite form so far. I know how to get in the form, but I don’t know how to apply moves, both defense or offense, and I would like to get some instructions on how to advance what little skill I do have. If you could help, please send either manual instructions or free downloads…I can’t afford to order and videos online…

Even monkeys fall from trees…

Find a Sifu.

…um, a Sifu?..I feel all alone here, I’m the only one who doesn’t know what a sifu is…grr…

Sifu

Sifu in this case means a teacher

in japanese and okinawan arts “Sensei”

If you’ve never had any real, in-the-flesh training, there is no way someone can “teach” you online. People who have experience can benefit from videos, etc, but someone in your position, who has no previous Martial Arts training, cannot possibly do so.

You need to find a Sifu (teacher) if you really want to learn. Otherwise, you’re just wasting your time.

Do you mean the style (Eagle Claw) by saying “form”?
Even if you do not have a teacher so far,you might want to gain some information and learn things about the system.

I hope I got this right.

THANK YOU…

Domo Arigatou Gozaimasu!!! That’s the kind of information I needed…http://www.fightingarts.com/reading/article.php?id=132
…that’s what I needed, something similar to that. I appreciate it…I hate to be greedy, but could you send a little bit more info involving how to apply attack and defense moves to it?
…wait a second, do you live in Okanawa, Japan? I’m studying Japanese also, I’m trying to get someone (in another site) to translate my poetry into Japanese so I can apply it to my music and write a Jpop song of my own…

Arigato.
That´s allright but unfortunately I have no first-hand experience with this art,I wonder if there are eagle claw practitioners around the board…
It would also be relatively hard to describe them either I´d believe. You might like to search for some books or tapes if you still cannot get instruction.

Certainly not.Far from that.I live in Europe (Finland,as my vital stats show) It would be nice to live there though.
To get to the point,I speak very little japanese.
Will be studying it soon if possible, but I´m soon to be working on chinese.
So it´s all too bad if you got the wrong impression but I wish you the best with your studies.
BTW,if there´s something more I could possibly do,let me know.
Ganbatte.

Northern Eagle Claw

As a student of Ying Jow Pai ( Northern Eagle Claw ) kung fu; I’ve found very little online as to learning Eagle Claw kung fu without a Sifu.

I know that Grandmaster Leung Chum has a video series out that you can purchase around the internet. The web site for the New York school is:
http://www.yingjowpai.com, I believe.

Also, if you want to garner other than the very basics of Eagle Claw, you absolutely need to find a Sifu (instructor). The web site above will give you a list of Eagle Claw instructors as well.

Good luck,

Jeremiah Spradlin, Ying Jow Pai (Northern Eagle Claw Kungfu), Atlanta, Georgia

Gomen nasai, Former castleva, that Japanese question was for BearBear, (I should have specified that)…gomen nasai…
Thanks for the info anyways…
