It doesn’t look like any of the Qixing, Taiji, or Taiji Meihua Tanglangquan families that I have seen.

My guess is that it is a new version.

That was my thoughts as well.

I have to say I like it’s straight forward nature though.

Actually, it is the way the performer uses his elbows that betrays the fact that this is not an “eight elbows” form. The term “eight elbows” refers to eight short striking methods used in tanglangquan, and not to eight specific elbow striking methods.

I am not disputing this, as I do not know the theory behind the form 8 Elbows, but in my opinion that just sounds all sorts of backwards lol

I don’t recall ever seeing that form before.

Does WHF and mainland branches have Yat Lo & Yee Lo Ba Zhou as well as the Eight Elbows Boxing Form?

Paul

Paul,
As for Mainland Mantis, I can attest that Taiji Meihua Tanglangquan has four roads to their Ba Zhou.

Also, both Taiji Tanglangquan and Taiji Tanglangquan (CCK) have at least two roads to their Ba Zhou.

mor like 16, though it is hard to count.
You mean sections (duan) I think.

Yes, I stand corrected. Thank you!

The proper term is - duàn - section.

As in: - dì y duàn b zhu - First Section of Eight Elbows.

Kevin,
I don’t use any program for translating, just a dictionary. To place Chinese characters along with the pinyin in my posts, I copy and paste from the on-line dictionary at Mandarin Tools.

The phrase " " comes from Zhang Bingdou’s book . The translation was my own.
