Is it true that the reason your sifu closed his school was due to some “misunderstanding” with the local chinese triads??? Is it a hearsay? I don’t think it is, what ya think?

curious question seeing as BM is such a large component of YKM why wasn’t Cheung Lai Chun included in the lineage?

when sifu was about to retire in china town, lots of his senior students where getting married and was leaving the kwoon-it wasnt as busy as the late seventies and early 80’s. the rent and of his school was bumped up higher and he simply couldnt afford it with chinese medicine. so he decided to close down in 1987, sifu sam opened up in 1989 and carried the ykm school on, while sifu taught every sunday at the park. triads are in china town thats true but had nothing to do with school closing.

the ykm school has left and split from bak mei for over 80 years now, clc isnt mentioned because of many reasons. although i do have on the sight that the hand forms are of bak mei except for the internal sets(yau kung). ykm and bak mei are brothers and we have no problems with saying that the majority of the style is bak mei.
the lieage chart you saw was off the internal ykm masters not bak mei masters thats why you couldnt find master cheung lai chun.

did you see the kung fu demos in chinatown on sunday, julianna wushu champ got struck in the face by a piece of staff after a iron body demo flung off and hit her, i heard.
ykm didnt demo because we paid our respects to my sifu at rookwood cemetery that day.

Of course I was there!!. Did a little lion dancing and the like. Poor Jullieana actually struck her twice near the eyes. Very Dangerous.

Silly Fang Shan fake Shaolin nothing…worse Xing yi in years… That is why breaking demos are dangerous and as much as we like doing them as a MA it is important to care for the community first !

yeah - i had heard that the hsing i was pretty bad, and that they did about 20 forms that looked like they were straight from a book.
yes community should always come first in situations like that. do you think that she will sue the school or centre management of chinatown? i hope this doesnt mean a stop to all demos in the future.

I doubt she’d pursue legal action……
I certainly do hope it doesn’t affect future demos as such, that would be sad
Good demos ….well to answer that is slightly subjective though Andy was there he’ll tell you in his opinion.
Anyway we'll see what the future holds.

haha i know what you mean with the taiji demos, they can get tiring watching them. it looks like a new chinese martial arts association may be born soon!!! does sifu lee bing chin (sp) know about this?
