No, don’t send it to either.

JCVD, Ashida Kim or similar will be better.

gO TO WWW.SCRIPTSALES.COM AND ASK.
IT’S A GREAT SITE.

Kungfu movies have scripts?!!?

LOL at csn.

Kung fu movies actually have scripts, but they always forget to use them.

Why was this moved here? Shouldn’t it be in media?

Russ, as you probably saw, everyone’s a comedian. You might have more luck in an industry site, or going through normal channels. Do you have an agent?

If he had an agent, he wouldn’t have to worry about submitting it himself, now would he?

If you do have an agent, watch out! I’ve seen people empty entire clips at them and hit nothing but air…

Hello Captain, I am getting into independent film making and have shot one fifteen minute or so short that, once the current editing is completed, I will be sending to festivals that suit the genre.
How long is your script and what is the premise? Is it written in script format and how serious are you with actualizing it?
My email, if you are interested is: shape_square@yahoo.com

captain- do you have a part for Rene in the script?
He could do his own dubbing.
Might be better than the Hong Kong dubbing…

Captain, take it from a 10+ year industry professional - feel free to look me up online at imdb.com. Look under my name, Giacomo Knox - so you know that I know what the hell I’m talking about.

Don’t you DARE pay anyone to submit, represent, or do anything for you except typing and printing copies. That scriptsales.com is a bunch of b.u.l.l.s.h.i.t designed to take money from first-timers who don’t know the business. Sure, they’ll SAY they submitted your work to # of agents, producers, etc, but there’s no real way of verifying that they did it. For that matter, everybody and their brother is submitting to the same people - why should they read yours over someone else’s?

Here’s how you get it done: First off, if you are serious about screenwriting for a living, you are in the wrong part of the world. Unless you plan on dealing with a UK production company and you only want to write one or two, then I really can’t help you too much. Right now, before you tell ANYONE about your idea, get a copywright on it, or find out if the UK has a “Writers Guild,” or a union for writers. They will protect your work from theives.

I hate to dissuade you, but forget about an instant sale. I can’t tell you how many recent films were written like 10 or even 20 years ago. Even the best works take time to work their way through “Development Hell.” Be prepared to shuttle your work from desk to desk for at least 5 years. And don’t try to do it on your own. Either gain a close friend in the industry who is a Director/Screenwriter/Producer/Studio Head, etc, or get a Literary Agent. Yes, sometimes they speak in monotone and wear skinny ties with black suits…

After that, sit, wait, write another screenplay, get laid, work, etc. But stay in touch with your agent and see if he/she is doing their job. It’s next to impossible for a first-timer to get their first work sold, unless you gain the aforementioned friend, or get some money together and shoot the story yourself.

Either way you do it, there is no magical formula when it comes to breaking into this business. It’s evil, selfish, cruel, and downright nasty. But if you make it, you will find yourself having more money than you know what to do with. But if you are not strong, if you are not determined, it will eat you alive and leave not even a wishbone behind. Make sure you really want to be a part of this “thing” before you invest your heart and your feelings.

Now that I’m done with my tirade…

If you really think you can do it, PM me and I will help you find an agent. You might have to get an American agent, and I don’t know how that’s going to pan out, since you are not here. But I would imagine that you UK guys have what we call “Trade magazines or Trades.” Ask around.

Re: Script

African Tiger;

It is very commendable of you to giving “correct” suggestions and help to Captain regarding his script.

I also happen to have a screenplay that hopefully soon enough should be able to be seen at theaters, if it makes it that far.

I will say this. It is a VERY difficult thing to break into the movie industry. I find that I have to kiss everybody’s ass to get from point A to point B. Coincidentally I am not even talking to anyone that is important.

However someone gived me some great info and possibly you can vouche if it is true or just bull.

This “individual” within the Canadian film industry pointed out that the best thing to do in order to “protect” something such as a screenplay/script is to…

  1. Make several photocopies of the script/screenplay (3)
  2. Placed them in “separate” envelopes
  3. Have all of them registered and sent to your own address.
  4. Of course when you receive them place them in a safe place and do not open them at any cost.

When the post office puts their stamp on them it becomes “legal” property. If anyone were to use your “idea” all that you have to show is that you have proof of ownership since the stamp of the post office is in fact a legal power.

I have taken the time to ask at the post office if it were true and they seem to also agree with this.

Is there some truth to this?
