what is the Wierdest KungFu style?

A mate posed me the above question.

There are thousands of styles out there, some more “mainstream” than others, some more practical, some more esoteric.

So what are people’s thoughts as to the the craziest/strangest/wierdest kungfu style out there? and why?

Give me a moment to make one up…

I think the runny/screamy/bashy style is pretty weird.

or the flailing/flipping/flexing style is weird as well.

anyway, that’s all just outward appearance, the real weirdness is when completely unorthodox stuff works. and not just cause it’s a surprise.

now that’s weird!

Most of the styles are with apparent moves or direct and straightforward.

The surprise ones.

  1. Ba Gua: walk away from the front and back.

  2. Mantis: with many hidden hands and feet or (Yin Shou or An Shou) also many hidden power/Jin. the varied and ever changing hand methods.

any examples of that?

search for holly or holey ,forget which, tiger kung fu. screaming, flailing, nice.

Duck style. Seriously. I dont think ive ever been as disturbed as when I saw a grown man imitating a duck.

When I was a kid, some guy told me there was a spider style in Chinese gong fu, that was really acrobatic and effective. If that were true, it would be cool. Also, if those wild monkey styles work in actual combat, then you’ve got one there.

one of my fav: the drunken one or eight.

Now tha’s what I’m talkin’ 'bout! If that would work in real life, that would be it!

LOL!! I was just watching that movie!!

My vote goes to the little kid doing a crab-esque style about 4 minutes in… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g57G3BDYcQ0 . Man, I forgot how weird that vid was. If the kung fu in there isn’t the weirdest thing ever, I think that music is…

The first player did an imitative monkey routine. Though I enjoy watching these routines for the acrobatics, I cringe to think that someone might equate this with true Monkey Boxing.

What was so weird about that? it looked like a basic Southern form to me. I am thinking some sort of Southern Tai Tzu Quan, or Five Ancestor’s Fist?

The guy right before the midget in the orange body suit is really weird… Look at 3:28. Hes just twirling around with his fingers all flaired out. It looks like some sort of modern dance routine. The others are ok, (except maybe the guy with the shovel), but I have no idea what that guy is doing…

Realistically the weirdest one I’ve seen is Iron Crotch? Where they hang weights on your ding dong.
