I think I’ll stick with stances.
so much for ankles.
Lots of strength coaches for the pro’s actually recommend squatting on swiss balls and indo boards for stability and balance training. Personally, I’d rather not risk destroying the one body I have.
what can be gained from squatting on a swiss ball, particularly with weight? if you need the extra balance, it seems there are easier ways, say, weighted (coupla poods) pistols. maybe doing body-weight squats on a swisser for balance, but after that, just how much balance do you need?
That’s the question. ![]()
hm. probably the same gains as being able to break a board 10 feet in the air with a kick – no real purpose, but it sure looks impressive.
The first one scares me
but I’d do the second one. Having done alot of functional, proprioceptive stuff in the past, the core stability you’d need for that sort of exercise would be extreme.
Are there better ways to build balance? Maybe, but that’s nastiest exercise I’ve seen for training your balance under stress. Reading that thread, someone remarked it’s alot like circus training (RTB: available in Seattle periodically).
I’ll forward that picture over to my two-a-day, isolation-happy friends.
